Most people could give a shite.

In David’s case, it will make for an interesting episode of CYE and likely a meltdown from his fricking nuts ex-wife who is a major SJW.

We have a lot of old family wills where slaves and their "forward" were mentioned. Sometimes I really wish my ancestors would have just picked their own damn cotton.

Most normal people won't care and realize his ancestors were flawed people and a product of their time.

SJWs will care and demand reparations.

Dirty secret nobody is allowed to talk about: The Jews were extremely pivotal and active in the African slave trade.

This would make one helluva funny episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm if he could put aside his leftist politics and have fun with it.
His shows are pretty self-deprecating. It sounds like exactly the type of episode he would create.

My great great great grandfather owned over 100 slaves and owned the Destrehan plantation. He had 11 of them heads cut off and put on a pike on the ms river after a slave revolt. Then in his final will he freed them all and instructed them all to receive a parcel of land but the courts struck it down. His nephew also owned a plantation that he lost in the civil war after he became financially ruined trying to fund the war. The state took his land around Baton Rouge and built what is known today as Louisiana State University.

I know, CSB

Don't feel bad, Larry. Here is the slave schedule from the 1860 census listing my great-great-grandfather (Spencer M. Bankston) and two of my great-great-great uncles (Willis and George Bankston) and the number of slaves that they owned. See? I'm not ashamed!

I have documented the service in the CSA of 11 of my GFs. One who started in the CSA (33rd Ga Reg) and finished the war as a Sergeant in the (Union) 5th Tenn Mtd. Infantry. Three had slaves pre-war and 8 did not. Not ashamed. Just interested in learning as much of each of their stories as I can.

What these idiots don't realize is by the time you go back that far you have 64 or 128 direct ancestors so you probably had some of everything, just like everybody else.

Considering the fact that General Grant issued is infamous Order Number 11 it isn't hard to see why a large number of Jews picked up arms for the confederacy.

General Order Number 11 said:

"1. The Jews, as a class, violating every regulation of trade established by the Treasury Department, and also Department orders, are hereby expelled from the Department. Within twenty-four hours from the receipt of this order by Post Commanders, they will see that all of this class of people are furnished with passes and required to leave, and any one returning after such notification, will be arrested and held in confinement until an opportunity occurs of sending them out as prisoners unless furnished with permits from these Head Quarters. No permits will be given these people to visit Head Quarters for the purpose of making personal application for trade permits. BY ORDER OF MAJ. GEN. U.S. GRANT"

Give him credit: He didn't bitch out of it like Ben Affleck.

quote:

But Affleck was “embarassed” by his slave-owning ancestor, he wrote on Facebook. “The very thought left a bad taste in my mouth.”

So he asked the show’s producers to leave Cole out of the final cut of the program, and they — after some debate — agreed. When Affleck’s episode was broadcast in October, it contained no mention of Cole or Affleck’s Georgia relatives.
