Hopefully he will crank it back up during recruiting/transfer season.

That's what made Saban so great.
Not really.
Saban had the same focus when he was at LSU, where he did well, but ultimately failed to out perform Les "The Hat" Miles. Miles has a higher winning percentage, just as many national championships, just as many conference championships, and lots more top ten finishes at LSU.
He ostensibly had the same focus in the NFL, where he failed miserably.
He ostensibly had the same focus at Michigan State, where his winning percentage was .585.
He only became the "best ever" after landing in Tuscaloosa. Before that he was a good but not great coach who sprinkled a few exceptional seasons among average seasons wherever he went (except the NFL).
What changed? Did his focus improve? Or did the fact that his buddy Mark Emmert headed up NCAA compliance by the time he got to Alabama make a difference?
Here's a clue.
In 2013, Ha Ha Clinton Dix was found to have accepted a "loan" from an assistant coach at Alabama. No one disputed this.
Now when this same thing happened at Auburn with Eric Ramsey, they got 3 year's probation, had to fire their coach, couldn't even be on t.v. for a year, etc.
When it happened at USC with Reggie Bush, they got 2 years probation, lost 30 scholarships, got a two year bowl ban.
Miami (twice), Ole Miss, even Alabama themselves in 2002 (but that was before Emmert was in charge of compliance at the NCAA), etc.
So what do you think Alabama got for paying Clinton-Dix?
Nothing.
They didn't even get an investigation. Nobody even cared to find out whether that was a pattern there. The NCAA just accepted Alabama's "self-reporting" that they had fixed the situation and went about their way.
So I don't think Saban's "focus" is what won all those games. I think him having superior talent won all those games at Alabama, and I think that was a direct function of having the right friends in the right places.
During one playoff early in the development of the playoffs it was noted that Alabama had more 5 star players than the entire rest of the playoff field combined.
That kind of talent hoarding has never happened before in the history of college football (at east in modernity), and now that everybody can legally pay players, what do you know? The talent hoarding at Alabama has stopped.

To the first, no you don’t. This is demonstrated by the second.

He’s right. And to take it a step further, comparing also leads to a lack of self worth or value.

Kiffin left Ole Miss because he sees the grass being greener in Baton Rouge.
.... and so does Ole Miss.

I know right? That’s why he got paid by Bama to get out of LSU. His failings. FFS
ETA: Les picked up the program from Saban and fricken shite on it to get pussy.

I enjoyed his comments about social media as what he said is the truth. In my spiritual journey, I’ve learned not to compare myself to anyone. I’m truly content with all I have!

Nah. Bama hired the better coach imo.
