So easy to say stupid shite like this when you are using tax payer's money for all of these "lawsuits".

Only people benefiting from this are Landry and his lawyer buddies that will make tons of money "defending" these cases.

Good job on taking care of the issues that matter. Republicans are worthless, spineless pieces of shite.

what would posting them in a classroom do exactly? most of the time the kids do not pay attention to anything, so you think posting it on the wall will matter

It could help kids who don’t know rights and wrongs Since kids are not learning it at home and not going to church because parents are friends with kids instead of being parents….

but that is not the intent of schools. if the parents are too lazy to take interest and keep the kids heading int he right direction, it should not be on the school to fill in those gaps.

you can plaster whatever you want to say on the wall, but 9 times out of 10 most kids will not pay it any mind and ignore it. schools should not be the place for kids to have to get education on all the things the parents do not want to take responsibility for.

if the kids do not want to go to church, that is on them and the family - not the teachers and classrooms - unless it is a church school - that is a different discussion.

Not like Lake Charles needs a new bridge or anything.

Here we are giving religious instruction to kids which they should get at home, and the proponents of that are the first to claim that the problem with gov't is we have become a Nanny State.

This board doesn't have a ton of liberals posting here and definitely not in the numbers that are represented in this thread. Its safe to say that the vast majority of people that don't sit on the far religious right disagree with this action from Landry.

Its not even about whether its right or wrong to display the commandments in school. Its about Landry using his seat as Governor to draw headlines for himself instead of using it to actually try to improve our state.

I’m probably early, it’ll probably come up on page 10, but this is the reply to whomever mentions the founding fathers.

Thomas Jefferson was a deist, and colorfully denied the divinity of Jesus, and thought that by now we would think of him like a Greek myth. And yes, our capital buildings do display the 10 Commandments, but also the code of Hammurabi, Confucius, Buddha etc.

They don't display the ten commandments, just tow tablets with Roman Numerals and no text. Some say this refers to the Bill Of Rights. There is a frieze depicting Moses, but as you point out, it depicts many historic lawgivers, like Hammurabi ....

Any Christian should be able to come up with better commandments than those. Even just from the sermon on the mount.

Here are 10 non religious ideals from our robot overlords, that would far benefit children.

Promote Well-Being: Improve happiness and well-being.

Respect Autonomy: Honor everyone's right to make their own choices.

Practice Empathy: Show compassion and understanding.

Seek Truth: Pursue knowledge through reason and evidence.

Act with Integrity: Be honest and trustworthy.

Promote Justice: Advocate for fairness and equality.

Protect the Environment: Safeguard the natural world.

Support Community: Contribute to and engage with your community.

Value Diversity: Respect and embrace differences.

Live with Purpose: Pursue meaningful goals.

For every good thing he does (prohibiting credit card companies from tracking firearm purchases), he does 2 stupid things (this or vetoing the tort reform bill).

The 10 commandments thing is just raw meat for the ultra religious minority wing of the GOP and to make headlines for his future national aspirations. It isn’t going to make a difference in people’s lives or the quality of education. And he knows that its going to result in the state getting sued over it, which will waste taxpayer funds and state resources defending a lawsuit that the state will almost assuredly lose anyway.

Typical politics in America, but sadly that's the kind of shite that sheeple remember when they're waiting in line to vote.
