Governor Landry,
Please restructure how electoral votes are determined while you are at it. Rural parishes need to have a more equal footing.
New Orleans/Baton Rouge will flip Louisiana one day like Atlanta did with Georgia.

take the protected spending for K-12 public schools out of the constitution and make it available for cuts.
Because the education in this stupid fricking state isn’t bad enough.
ETA: apologies if I didn’t read this correctly.

I've always been a fan of allocating one EV for each congressional district, and two EV's for the statewide winner. Maine and Nebraska already do this.

Thanks I haven’t lived in the state in years and don’t really follow local politics there. Great responses very informative.

Our constitution was written by Democrats 50 years ago. Stop the bitching. Anything that comes out of this will be better than what currently have. I really hope that they limit the Governor's power.

I wouldn’t say “anything” would be better but it has been a clusterfrick for at least the last 20 years, in part because the legislature entrenches bullshite into the budget which can’t be excised without a lot of effort being expended.
A fresh start is likely an improvement but not guaranteed.

You really think Landry’s going to go for that?
He’s not a conservative in favor of decentralized government. He wants as much power centralized in the Capitol, and more specifically, the 4th Floor.

The present state constitution needs to be thrown into the fire.
Yeah, that's not cool.

Yeah, that's not cool.

I say amend it to mirror Texas' constitution.

Yeaaaa I don’t trust the general public to educate themselves enough to vote on this. Many will have zero clue wtf they’re voting for.

Every move Landry has made since taking office has been to give himself more power. He is Huey Long but potentially worse.

And to enshrine an appointment process with term limits for judges.
Can you add a recall apparatus for a US Senator?

I propose that we just request annexation.
Doubt they'd take us though.

1. Obtain copy of Texas State Constitution
2. "Find and replace" Texas with Louisiana
3. Save doc
4. Vote and adjourn
