Looking at the fact that NYC elected Mamdani with increasing commie candidates across the state and NYC....there's even less reason to be in NY than there was back in 2022.
Tell me - what exactly has changed for these people fleeing NY to come back? There's been zero new developments in the opposite direction of complete communism.

Just to sum up how shitty New York is. Say you are employed by a company that is based in New York and you work from home in Georgia. New York claims that your income is earned in New York and requires you to file a return in New York and pay New York taxes. Even if you never set foot in New York. You also have to file and pay Georgia taxes, too. You get a tax credit in Georgia for the New York taxes, but its limited to your Georgia tax liability. In the end, Georgia gets no tax income and you pay the higher New York tax rate.

While I don't agree with it, and I think it's unconstitutional to get taxed twice on earnings, it's going to happen any time you live in one state and work in another.
But. At least in the situation you are talking about, you're not paying bridge tolls.
There are many, many, many workers who traverse (edit: travel. Stupid autocorrect) between NY and NJ for work. They get hit with a bridge roll on their way to work, and on their way home.
While racking up an hour to two hours sitting in traffic jams at the bridges.

How about not living in the US and still have to be held accountable by the IRS? You tax people living outside the US......and give it to illegals living in the US.

Now Mamdani is doing it at the municipal level - much more aggressively, and somehow the lizards in NY keep voting for it over and over and over again. They've already lost over 110B in AGI in only a decade, and they are voting for MORE of this insanity.
