Well, if you feel that strongly about it, which I totally respect, then it would seem to make sense that you’re against any and all other investigative procedures that involve “eavesdropping,” i.e. any and all phone taps (local/county/municipal level all the way up to the feds), bugging at all levels, concealed audio/video surveillance using confidential informants, etc etc. Because each and every one of those procedures and methods are relatively easy to abuse, for a wide array of possible nefarious/illegal purposes. What are your thoughts on all of that?

Gotta wonder what they show or tell people that get into positions of power that cause them to reverse course.

Umm, maybe how they’ve actually worked as intended in various instances, perhaps averting who knows what degree or extent of a destructive or catastrophic situation. Specific information to that end perhaps, just not feasible or in any way advisable to be shared with the general public.

The Veruca Salt Tantrum Brigade isn't going to like that explanation one bit.

Let me be crystal clear: I want FISA dead. Not replaced… dead. I want the Patriot Act repealed. They’re both bad programs built on a justification of lies.
In May 2025, Anna Paulina Luna introduced her American Privacy Restoration Act to repeal the entire Patriot Act. Of course it hasn’t advanced.

Thanks Davy,
You and I are of the same opinion. If fisa goes away tomorrow the spying does not stop.
If you pass a law to outlaw guns the killing does not stop.
It only stops if you stop the nefarious use of the tools we have.

The patriot act and FISA were created by a corrupted federal apparatus with the intent to weaponize from the very beginning.
Crossfire hurricane wasn’t an accident, it was the intended outcome and the real reason it was built: as a means of leverage over and an implicit threat against anyone who opposes the group who controls it.
Every single person and group associated with it have shown themselves repeatedly undeserving of that type of power and as we accelerate into an AI/Palantir era the threat and the temptation is far too much to be given to the federal government.
This is a strawman argument and nowhere have I argued against traditional surveillance even if im wary of the people ordering it, I’m saying the powers, tools, ease of access and lack of oversight associated with the two elements I specifically referenced are far beyond what DC has shown itself worthy of using.

FISA should be abolished, and everyone involved who has ever used or authorized it to spy on an American citizen should be imprisoned immediately, if not executed for treason. FISA is evil and unconstitutional, and nothing more than a tool for government to secretly surveil citizens to punish and suppress dissent and political opposition. It is a tool of blackmail, lawfare, and intimidation.

Yeah because even the people who had it directed at them apparently want to use it when it’s their turn at the wheel even if they fail to recognize that as soon as they’re out of power they’ll be back under its ever more powerful sights yet again along with anyone else who opposes the new group in control.
It’s far too powerful a tool to be granted to anyone in such a politically charged era, yet no one involved has the restraint to throw the proverbial ring into the volcano.

FISA necessitates the use of secret courts.
It is extra-constitutional.
So, no.

I’m a pretty strong Trump supporter, and yes, a “fan” as well. And just for the record, I just as confidently see it quite differently than you.

I never equated all that in. So if Trump cancels the entire secret court as the trillionaire poster says..
They can still use 5 eyes piggybacking to abuse and use the spying as oppo research.
Therefore if FISA court is abolished they will scream we will get more Homeland terror attacks...

I pray Patel simply follows the precedent set by the democrat appointees regarding FISA and does so with a vengeance.

We need to actually drain the swamp.
You don't do that by bringing in truckloads of your own swamp water.

Will Patel lay out what measures they will add? As the other measures failed.

look at statistics instead of relying on a bunch of teen message board posters. Our new “boss” Kash, has done much better.
He is an improvement and maybe he really has fixed FISA abuses internally. I hope that’s true. But he was always against the program, and he won’t FBI director forever. Unless Congress codifies the necessary fixes to prevent abuse, the next fbi director could go right back to allowing abuses
