Justice Alito thinks he knows who leaker of his decision to overturn Roe v Wade was

Unfortunately, he doesn't think there's enough evidence to release the name. Reading between the lines, I think he's implying that it was another Supreme Court Justice.
I doubt he knows the habits of lower personnel well enough to have a strong opinion. Wish the reporter would have at least asked "Is the person still working in the Supreme Court building? Was it another Justice?"

IIRC, people think it was Roberts or Soyomayor.

Some people did something.

The federal investigators should be embarrassed that they can’t identify the culprit. With the limited number of people with access to the information, it should have been very easy.
That leads me to believe that the court wanted it leaked.

Roberts always made the most sense to me, because he was somewhat of a fence straddler. He probably though leaking the draft opinion could actually change things.

Didn't Roberts buddy step down a while ago, after the leak?

Roberts wanted to split the baby by ruling in the majority’s way but preserve Roe.
Him leaking it to try and pull someone off the fence toward his position makes sense.

Agreed. I find it hard to believe they don't know. My guess is that they know it's Roberts and no one has the balls to name the Chief Justice.
FWIW, here's a summary of the investigations. Fun fact: the Justices did not respond under oath.
##########
2022–23: The initial investigation was conducted by the Supreme Court Marshal's Office, not the FBI. Chief Justice John Roberts ordered the Marshal to investigate after Politico published the Dobbs draft on May 2, 2022. The investigation interviewed 97 Court employees, conducted forensic examinations of devices, networks, printers, and communications records, and ultimately could not identify the leaker. ?

The justices were interviewed, including Roberts, but they were not questioned under oath. Marshal Gail Curley said she found no credible lead implicating any justice or spouse. ?
ABC News +1
2025: FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino announced that the FBI was opening/reinvigorating an investigation into the Dobbs leak. This was more than two years after the Supreme Court's investigation had failed to identify the source. Reuters reported that Bongino said he would receive weekly updates. ?

Jeffrey Minear served as chief justice’s counselor since 2006
Departing at contentious time for the court
John Roberts’ chief of staff Jeffrey Minear is retiring effective Sept. 30, the high court announced Tuesday.
Minear will resign as Counselor to the Chief Justice of the United States as the justices prepare to take the bench for the October 2022 term with a new member, low approval ratings, and a publicly unresolved leak investigation of the Dobbs opinion that overruled Roe v. Wade.

Yeah but did Minear go rogue or did he take the bullet for Roberts?
We will never know because the federal investigation probably didn’t really want an answer.

Thanks Scott. I didn't know that. Doubt he would leak without being instructed to do so by Roberts.

I don't know anymore than anyone else but my guess it's one of the law clerks with one of the liberal justices.

Incorrect facts. Incorrect legal interpretation.
Appointing Justices who overturned Roe v Wade has been one of Trump's greatest accomplishments.

While we're speculating, do you think the clerk did on orders from their Justice?

The leak was a major breach of Supreme Court protocol. One may disagree with Roberts sometimes, but he has too much respect for the institution to undermine it in this way. Plus, leaks make his job much harder. I just don't see it.. A politicized staffer of one of the liberal justices makes more sense.

Thanks. I wish I shared your view, but you might be right.
I thought his crawfishing to justify Romney/Obama Care as a "taking" smacked of politics over objective judicial analysis.

So did his affirmation of birthright citizenship.

Good point. He could have followed Kavanaugh's lead.
