I remember when my mom was going though breast cancer treatment thinking the word “hospice” was the worst thing in the world to ever hear.

Turns out they are absolutely amazing people who help so much take the weight off the family so that you can concentrate on saying goodbye and grieving.

I thank God that he put people on this world that can handle what hospice handles. It is a blessing.

Goodbye Ben and Godspeed.

I went through that with my in laws. When I suggested hospice they had a literal fit. Afterwards they were grateful.

Thankfully his pain is over. Watching a loved one suffer the last days of cancer is so brutal. It makes you understand the "they are in a better place" saying.

RIP Ben

Thank you for the update. Sorry that he has not improved, but so thankful to hear that he is not in pain in his final days. Prayers for Craig and Chrissie and family and friends.

Just saw the update. At least he is no longer suffering. May he RIP and may his family find joy and inspiration in their memories of him.

Ben has passed on to the Lords eternal bliss. I am very sorry for not updating you all but I've just been so torn up today knowing that I will never see him again nor hear his voice.

I am so sorry for your loss. For those of us that know Ben on the poli board it is a wake up call to not sweat the small stuff and live each day in prayer of some sort and touch every being when you meet them, if only with a smile or holding a door for them.

I am waiting for Ben to post and be signed on in here... in this way we will all miss him. It is sad that he won't sign on again... It is profound how many lives are touched here-knowing each other every day- as we post over the years.

I wish Ben's wife peace in her grief and feel peace for Ben knowing he is no longer in pain.

You will see him again Bedhog. We’ll all reunite on the other side.

Nine months after my brother passed from pancreatic cancer he came to me in a dream. He was sitting in a large tree on a hill. It was dawn and he was looking at me. He was whole...all he said to me was “It’s ok...it’s ok”...I felt peace after that.

I hope you, Crissie and the entire family find peace through this awful time. Loving y’all!!

I had the same thing with my childhood best friend. It is why I have zero doubt about God and my faith. We were on the phone talking about a high school classmate that died in a horrific car accident and how awful it must have been dying that way; we swore if one of us died the other would somehow come back and tell us what was the after life.

She also died in a car crash not even 2 weeks later, a drunk ran a red light and never went to prison; she came to me in a dream that I remember every detail forever. I quit grieving her death immediately but still miss her.

For however our words, thoughts, and prayers are able to comfort those close to Ben, I am sure all of us collectively want to extend our sorrow for his loss but simultaneously our joy that he is no longer suffering. He touched each of us here who enjoyed his posts and inspired us with his courageous battle against cancer! Ben will be missed but nobody can read these threads about him and doubt that he left a lasting positive legacy for so many of us who were fortunate enough to get to know him in some fashion!

Most importantly, may God hold and comfort those who are close to Ben through that blessed peace we believers know, that as others here have pointed out, which passes all understanding in Christ Jesus!
