I welcome our robot dockworker AI machines with open arms. I would love for the companies to just tell everyone on strike to go home and stay there, because the robots can handle things.

Once the dust settles, rehire the guys at half their old wage in order to clean the robots.

Who cares if those workers assemble together and negotiate higher pay for themselves. Good on them for realizing their value....

When most workers want to realize their value, they apply for other jobs. If no one wants to pay more for our labor, we get a reality check.

When we start to realize that our jobs could be easily replaced by automation, the solution is not demand higher pay.

If we realize that our labor is not worth what we thought, then we must increase our value in the workplace by learning a more marketable skill or get better at our jobs.

What we don’t do is walk off the job and throw a public tantrum.

Childish behavior should not be rewarded.

Why am I wrong?

How much do they pay in Union Dues? Do they consider those taxes or donations?

In the 80s, I’d catch on some days when they needed extra help. $16 per hour back then. No idea if the Union boys made the same or not, but it was great money for a college kid.

When you consider this as about as unskilled labor as you can find, an average of $120K after 5 years isn’t bad.

I’d say it’s fantastic.

Union claims the docks rake in 440 billion. Docks are paying all the above and driving up costs .......The Mob at this point is the Federal Government

There's a union around here in a certain industry that will essentially sabotage you so that you have to call them just to keep enough work.

And they’re working in expensive markets for the most part where they need that money… a win for them is a win for all labor, and we are all labor
Okay. Now let's talk specifics. In 2019-2020, 1/3 of longshoremen made over $200K/yr ( LINK).

Their requested raise of 77% would put that $200K at $354K/yr.

You don't understand a request by dockworkers to make $354K/yr is something some folks would raise their eyebrows about?

You don't think that them getting ridiculous raises will raise prices? Shipping rates are insane after Covid this will add to it.

Who do you think are going to pay their salaries? The consumer will. They are extorting the American people.

Isn't that true of all raises? And haven't we learned from trump that wages can increase without inflation going crazy, it's actually the fed printing money and bailouts the cost money
