That’s the HBIC there. We need more of that masculinity and not limp-wristed soys

And they’re working in expensive markets for the most part where they need that money… a win for them is a win for all labor, and we are all labor

When you consider this as about as unskilled labor as you can find, an average of $120K after 5 years isn’t bad.

I was barely making that 5 years after law school (it was ‘78 though).

Artie Lange said he was a union Longshoreman in the early-mid 90s before he became a comedian (his uncle got him the job in the NJ/NY docks).

He said he sat around all day and played cards until the shipment came (he unloaded liquid orange juice) and then he would hook up the hose to offload the juice, then he would watch the hose for an hour, then uhhook it and then went back to playing cards for hours. That's basically all he did all day.

He said he started out at $65K in like 1992 as an uneducated 22 yr old. His uncle told him he was a lunatic and complete idiot for leaving that job at 23 to go do stand up comedy.

They average about $36-40/hr.

They make between $100-150K after overtime. Just how much money do dock workers make? They think that's too little.

I fricking worked through Covid too, dealing directly with contaminated materials in a critical industry. I got a $300 bonus and I was thankful for it.

This ridiculous strike has put me on the bandwagon to automate the dock jobs. frick em.

Because the very reason they are fighting is because automation has made their jobs obsolete. They are bitching because robots are doing their jobs easier and more economically than they can do. They want to preserve their cushy jobs at the expense of Americans.

Who do you think are going to pay their salaries? The consumer will. They are extorting the American people.

The crane drivers make >$300k. That human caricature of a mob puppet makes >&700k.

Except that’s not their value, that’s their extortion leverage which has been enshrined via labor law, which was intended to prevent child labor and dangerous working conditions. I wouldn’t expect you to understand the difference.

This is why so many people think unions are a horrible thing. The workers are exploited but the guys at the top swim in $. I was in a union for five years, and I went to a union meeting a few times. The head table with all the mob bosses was dripping with sleaze. I looked at them and saw that these crooks represented me, and I would do much better representing myself. I left and never looked back..

All labor unions CBAs should have amendable dates, not expiration dates. Union shouldn’t be able to strike without be released by the government similar to rail, airline pilots/mechanics.

ETA: How dock workers aren’t under the Railway Labor Act, is kinda mind boggling.

Seems like this Union boss is earning his money if the rank and file is doing well also… Unions built America.

Lazy, fat-asses with big mouths make the best union leaders. Members want a fighter at the helm when going against company execs. This maggot fits the role but members should be pissed at his bloated income.
