The Federal Government operates on Cash Accounting. The corporate world uses Accrual Accounting. It’s easy to manipulate cash accounting by holding off paying for things.

Trumps 1st 6 full months (not including January) have showed a rate of decrease in terms of adding to the deficit.

The same period last year added 989B in debt. This year it’s only 780B in debt.

We are trending in the right direction but it will take time

Yoy the deficit is about 100 billion dollars higher than last years at this time.

This is incorrect. Those quoting data like this are referring to the fiscal year 2025. Which actually starts Oct 24 and goes to September 25

I’m confused.

Were you as concerned about the monthly deficit before Trump or is this a new thing?

It doesn't matter if it's legit or not, the root of the problem is Congress' inability to control its spending. If we were to see monthly $500B+ tariff returns, Congress would just increase spending by at least that much.

You thought tariffs would put us in surplus??

Several people crowed about this "achievement" when reasonable people could see this was an accounting blip. (I don't think it was a gimmick, as that implies will was done on purpose, and there is no evidence of that.)

There was a lot of people seeing what they wanted to see.

Nah, this is a new thing for the TDS members and it is hilarious.

You have another one starting threads with their "concern" for pedophiles.

No and I argued a month ago that monthly numbers didn't matter because they were skewed by accounting rules.

Many told me I had tds then because it was good news and a sign of trump policy working....

No you aren't. You are attempting to point out that you THINK you have a "GOTCHA". Nothing more.
