The Golden Age of America and “The Gold Standard” go hand in hand… these are VERY exciting times!
Let’s talk Judy Shelton for a second… who just Joined the U.S Treasury Department as a Counselor to Scott Bessent
She has long said “I like the idea of a Gold Standard, and It could be used in a very Cryptocurrency way.”
She also has said that this wouldn’t applied in a way that means going back to 1971… she described it as “Going BACK TO THE FUTURE”
Sound familiar? She means using gold again as a reference for the dollar’s value—the way it once worked—but through modern tools, not a full return to the old gold standard.
What she is talking about are long-term Treasury bonds that the holder can redeem in either dollars or a fixed amount of gold, potentially paired with digital gold-linked instruments.
Same principle as the past, updated mechanism.
President Trump nominated her to the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in 2019; the Republican Senate never confirmed her… thanks to Susan Collins, Mitt Romney, and Lamar Alexander. Also, Both Rick Scott & Chuck Grassley missed the vote because they were “quarantining” from COVID. She was never going to get it.
This was a sign of things to come.
And we are starting to see signs.
Florida and Texas both recognized certain gold and silver coins as voluntary legal tender in 2025, effective in 2026.
We are on a new trajectory now… nothing is stopping it

JFK wanted to go back to the Gold Standard. That didn’t work out to good for him.

Well, I know what it means, but I don’t understand the ramifications of it.

It would depend on how they did it. What she proposes is an incremental return to the gold standard beginning with the issuance of gold bonds and eventually transitioning over. A sudden return overnight would crash the system.
At any rate, this seems to be the direction they're moving in and that certain segment of "crazy posters" has been saying they would do this for years now.

Basically would increase the minimum wage. If you think about wages = amount of purchasing power for precious metals. Gold standard limits amount of new money able to be created, thus wage purchasing power rises.
Gold is detached from fiat currency now though, and prices are more speculatively driven than previously so the impact might not be as dramatic OR you'd see massive gold speculation. It's a problem fraught with uncertainty.

It is an economic restriction on big government which would preserve the value of your money / ie your labor which has lost 97% of its value since the Fed was created in 1913.
Nixon abolished the gold standard in 1971 clearing the way for the money machine to go brrrrrrr.
Governments / central banks printing unlimited money causes inflation and steals from you more subtly without raising tax rates.
The gold standard would prevent the government from issuing more money that can be backed by US Treasury gold reserves.
Also In the U.S., gold confiscation occurred in 1933 when President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed Executive Order 6102, requiring citizens to surrender most gold coins, bullion, and certificates in exchange for paper currency at a fixed price of $20.67 per ounce. This was followed by the Gold Reserve Act of 1934, which revalued gold to $35 per ounce, allowing the government to expand the money supply during the Great Depression.

Gonna need to inflate the value of gold to meet the feds outstanding note printing. Of seriously deflate the value of goods against the currency. If we just went back to the 70’s rate on goods I’d be fine with that, .29 gas, .25 shots on well brands. Maybe just drinking with Lincoln for 5.00 (80’s but wouldn’t bitch).

I cant find a single reason to be against this.

wont work unless debt is paid off and inflation is as close to 0 as possible with lower interest rates than the fed seems to want to have....

There isn’t enough gold to do this.

quote:Totally guessing that if you want cash redeemed in gold (I don't think our current supply is valued at the going rate) that essentially you have to have enough gold to redeem all cash (which is essentially the entire US money floating around)?
