You got that right. It is long past time to revisit those aspects of the landmark 1964 Civil Rights legislation that are fostering this tyrannical “trans” insanity.

During the debate over the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Senator Barry Goldwater warned that once private businesses were dictated by legislative fiat into a “public accommodation” by an all powerful Feral government, there would be little limit to what government can claim to do in the interests of “protecting” Civil Rights. Goldwater opposed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 because he was a man guided by First Principles not because he was a racist.

Goldwater was a long-time member of the Arizona chapter of the NAACP and upon his arrival in Washington in the early 1950s, led the effort to desegregate the Senate cafeteria after learning that his black legislative aide and been denied service because of her race. As an officer in the Air Force Reserve, Goldwater further was a staunch supporter of President Harry Truman’s effort to desegregate the Armed Services.

Goldwater indeed had one of the most pro-equality and pro-liberty voting records on matters of race in the U.S. Senate — unlike the virulent pro-segregationist LBJ — yet of course Goldwater was pilloried as a racist for supporting liberty and the individual rights of business owners and the right of citizens to freely association over government social engineering. Though Goldwater supported those aspects of the bill that secured the voting rights of all citizens regardless of race or creed, Goldwater rightly opposed Title II (public accommodations) and Title VII (fair employment) requirements because he correctly feared future government overreach.

Of course, just as Goldwater predicted, we now are witnessing government apparatchiks inflaming racial relations with hiring quotas, dictating who should bake cakes for who and — with this insane “transgender” agenda — reordering reality itself. It is sad to see so many supposed supporters of limited government continue to cower at these dishonest smear tactics that were used against Goldwater and Goldwater’s principled stance for Liberty.
