Oh Displaced won't like this.

quote:

Ohio lawmakers override John Kasich's gun bill veto

quote:

The state Senate in Ohio has overridden a veto from Gov. John Kasich on a gun proposal that pushes the burden of proof to prosecutors in shootings involving self-defense.

The Republican governor on Dec. 20 vetoed House Bill 228. The state Senate then convened after Christmas session and the GOP-majority chamber overrode Kasich's veto.

H.B. 228 makes several changes to Ohio's law regarding firearms. One of the most notable involves adjudication of self-defense shooting cases. The burden is now pushed from defendants to prosecutors to show the accused did not use their weapons "in self-defense, defense of another, or defense of that person's residence."

What a shitty veto on Kasich's part.

Your TRUE colors!

That must be a horrible feeling. To have veto power just to get vetoed.

I'm no Kasich fan, but self-defense is an affirmative defense. If it's raised by the Defendant, he or she should bear the burden of proving it. That's basic criminal or civil law.

Isn't this the way the justice system is supposed to work?

Doesn't surprise me a cuck like Kasich is against something like this...

Kasich lacks any self awareness if he thinks he will have any sort of mass support if he runs for President in 2020.

Of course, Kasich’s hope might just be to pull enough votes away from Trump that the Democratic candidate wins.

He won't even win his home state this time! He is a pile of mush who happens to be an idiot.

This bill put things in perspective. Innocent until proven guilty. Kasich wanted it guilty until proven innocent.

I was suspect of John Kasich during the 2016 election, the left loved him and thought he should be the Republican nominee.

That POS also vetoed an abortion limiting bill.

And still claims to be a "conservative". What an embarrassment this guy has turned out to be.

Doesn't make sense - I shoot a guy because he was about to kill me - and I am supposed to prove he intended to kill me??

My defense is self-defense - If you think I killed him for any other reason then prove it.
