Edwards has spent much of his two and a half years in office pushing for higher taxes. Facing a budget shortfall in 2016, Edwards embraced a slew of tax increases. He signed into law higher taxes on alcohol, cigarettes, health care providers, vehicle rentals, business inventories, and oth- er items, in addition to increasing corporate franchise taxes and broadening the sales tax base.108

The 2016 deal also included a “temporary” increase in the sales tax rate from 4 percent to 5 percent. However, when that hike was set to expire in 2018, Edwards and the legislature de- cided to retain about half of the increase for another seven years, so the state’s sales tax rate currently sits at 4.45 percent.109 Louisiana’s government will also receive a revenue infusion of more than $200 million a year because the state’s tax code automatically conformed to the 2017 federal law.110

In 2017, Edwards proposed a gross receipts tax which would have raised more than $400 mil- lion per year, but the state legislature quickly shot down the bill.111

Folks, Louisiana needs better leadership than what Edwards has given the past three years.

Not only that, he blatantly lied about promising not to raise taxes during the campaign and then did it anyway right off the bat the moment he got into office.

YouTube

If you want Louisiana's economy to improve and the jobs to come back, vote to remove him from office this fall.

The first requirement of being a Dem politician. I have yet to figure out in 66 years why half of the nation falls for this lie, always.

I warned people that called themselves conservative about to vote against their own interests about this back in 2015.

Winners make policy, losers go home.

And that's why I voted for Vitter because I wanted conservative policy enacted, and there was not a chance in hell that I was going to believe that a guy who had one of the most liberal voting records ever in the statehouse is suddenly a conservative blue dog as a democrat.

Not only that, JBE was and still is associated with all the usual suspects that has made this state shitty for a long time.

Are you more likely to vote for a man who ran his family into the ground? Or for one that will run his entire state into the ground? It’s a shitty choice. Louisiana chose wrong.

Better hope Abraham can raise enough money because I don’t think Rispone can beat JBE, but I think Abraham can.

The votes are there to had to oust JBE.

Recently, his own pals put out a poll in which they skewed the democrat sample and still couldn't get him above 45+ with 32% being undecided.

If the sample of democrats was more fair and accurate, he would be at 41-43 which is the absolute floor for a democrat in Louisiana.

And that's the same total that Mary Landreiu and the same total democrats got in the last few statewide elections.

JBE Economic Policy
1- Tax
2- Spend
3- Hope oil goes to $100+ per barrel to properly fund Louisiana’ bloated budget.

Results
1- Stagnant economy because of anti business taxes, rules, and regulations.
2- Continued struggle to balance budget because spending is easier than cutting.
3- Exodus of our children seeking economic opportunities elsewhere.

What must happen.
1- New State Constitution.
2- Reduced government.
3- Business friendly environment.
JBE opposes all of these.

According to the geniuses on the right, he should be more like Jindal and run the state as a crumbling insolvent third world shithole.

Here we go again. The only thing Edwards proponents can say for their man is that he's not Jindal.

They can't defend his policies, all they can do is deflect.

So I guess facilitating his lawyer buddies' carving up of the O&G industry is bad for everyone else. Who knew?

I'm curious, why are only 43 listed, and not the other 7 or 14 if your Obama.

Cato gave Jindal an A. So... lack of credibility here.

Also, every single A or B and all the C's except for one - went a republican. And the one c that went to a Democrat went to Bullock from MT, who is pretty damn conservative in reality.

Meanwhile, of the 8 F's, 7 went to Democrats.

The Cato institute's "vision" for fiscal responsibility leans very heavy right. If a left leaning think tank did these grades, they would look very different.

I don't agree with much of JBE's stuff, but we do have a fiscal situation where we are no longer having multiple mid year budget cuts. The budget is stable for the first time in a while. Yes, that is due to higher taxes. But, I think JBE deserves at D on this survey, just because of the stabilization.
