Just finished. This episode sucked. Just nothing there

Yeah i only watched about 5 min but it was basically Bernie’s stump speech that he’s recited a million times.. while i agree with Bernie on nearly 100% of the issues, and i do know that health care is a fundamental human right- i’m just not sure that Bernie is the best messenger at this point.. i think he would be best used as a cabinet member or advisor in the Warren/Buttigieg administration.

If you’re responsible for all your expenses then why are you still working somewhere making only minimum wage?

Tyga Woods (R-LA)

If you’re born into a poor family and make one mistake (teenage pregnancy, arrested for selling drugs, not finishing high school, etc) you’re fricked. Without parents with the means to help you get established you’re essentially stuck in that situation. How can a single mom with no education working a minimum wage job ever get into a position to be successful? No transportation. No money to go to school. No money for childcare so she can work/go to school. If she’s busting her arse working as much as possible, who is going to properly raise the kid?

If a few things go differently for most of us in our late teen/early adult years, we could’ve found ourselves in the same position.

Yeah, some people are just lazy. I’m not talking about those people. There are some that want better and are willing to work but the deck is stacked against them

So a person goes through 4 years of undergrad, 4 years of medical school, piling up mountains of student loan debt along the way, then another 3-7 years of residency training before becoming eligible for medical licensing, and you think you have a right to their services?

There's absolutely nothing wrong with being liberal or conservative. It's just the media warps peoples' perception of those labels. There are plenty of left wingers that aren't retarded SJWs and plenty of right wingers that don't wear shirts saying "guns don't kill people, I do"

100% this, problem is tribalism has become so rampant in politics today we often get stuck with places that are difficult to impossible to have any kind of discourse in such as PT or/r/politics

They chose that field it's not like the government are forcing people to become doctors. Also they're getting paid and despite what you try to say they're not being forced to work insane hours

Where is it fundamental human right? The Constitution,Book of Mormon, Bible, Quran? An Amendment?

I missed that in the bill of rights and 10 commandments.

Government doesn’t have to “force” individuals when there’s an adequate supply of those willing to pursue a career in medicine.

Swap socialism into the mix and see what happens to that supply. Your guess is as good as mine, but I’d say frick being a doctor when I can collect trash and receive full benefits, wouldn’t you? Now there’s a shortage of doctors and every man woman and child is demanding treatment as it’s their right to have free health care. And, by free, I mean funded by the taxpayers, and oh btw, you don’t even need to be a citizen of this country to receive the same benefits.

And it’s a shame that we let lazy people mooch off the welfare system that was designed to help those who want better and are willing to work but the deck is stacked against them. Wonder how that happened?

Chamber of Commerce types have predicted catastrophe in the face of everything from abolition to the Clean Water Act and the ADA. I'm done with their cries of "wolf."

Signing a $15 / hour minimum wage might actually be the one thing Trump could do that would halfway unify people

I read an article about 10 minutes ago about NYC and their $15/hr minimum wage. It’s led to reduced hours and reduction in staffing in the service industry, which in turn, has led to halting of growing the business and shortening store hours.

Artificially inflating wage rates causes damage to the economy. No amount of retarded Bernie worship will change cold hard facts.

Is this worth a watch?

My instinct says "probably not"

ETA: Just saw it was only an hour. That's a clear sign it was a turd.

I’d say so. I agree with Bernie on nothing at all but I think he’s genuine in his concerns and questions. His answers and solutions are shite, but grinning and bearing somebody of opposing viewpoints you find wrong or offensive is a good practice and helps to learn to hear people out.

Let me know all the awesome medical advances Canada has made.

Or just advances Canada has made in general. Ryan Reynolds is their lone contribution to the world in the last 50 years.
