This. The economy is addicted to federal deficit spending, the only way to fix that (and inflation) is to wean the economy off if it.

Yes we need to reign in federal spending. However the suppression tf GDP by Powell is near criminal and a fireable offense. We can’t not budget ourselves out of this mess without GDP growth.

It really is amazing how completely and thoroughly clueless you are on seemingly every topic you offer a thought on. The odds of that have to be insurmountably low, and yet here you are.

You’re right. You know much more about me than I do. I shall always defer to your cubbies expertise moving forward.

When will he ever take blame for anything? Just curious.
This goes for most administrations though.
We the ppl get fricked.

Is this some kind of joke?
How in the world is Powell keeping the lending rate near its historical average suppressing GDP?

Take a grain of salt for anyone's opinion who is actively celebrating the US's economy not making the quota, because it is being lead by Trump.

This is hitting new college graduates particularly hard.
I know too many 2025 graduates in fields such as engineering (electrical, aerospace), comp sci (specialized) and math who are not able to even get interviews, let alone jobs.
'Entry level' jobs are requiring 3+ years of full time work experience. One young man has 5 summers of paid internship experience with the same company (and an EE degree with good GPA) and is getting nowhere.
It's very discouraging for some hard-working young people who do not have throw-away majors.

These are some heavy revisions down for previous months.
Trump has made Powell the bad guy, but he seems more like a scapegoat at this point. Trump needs to find some easy wins to get this economy moving in a big way. Lowering interest rates would be a temporary fix as it would most likely increase inflation in the long run.
I think he should start pointing fingers at the real problem... The huge national debt. Get on the warpath about spending instead of passing bills that add trillions. Get Congress to pass a budget.
Some of the Q2 corporate profit reports have been pretty good. I have listened to a few podcasts recently featuring economic and investment gurus talking with guests who are from the tech sector. There is a growing consensus of so called experts who believe the ramping up of AI is starting to be felt negatively in mid level white collar job market and it will only increase, particularly jobs centered in technology.
One guest said in the next 1-2 years many software companies are going to be producing nearly all of their software products using AI and the only engineers who will still be employed will the the cream of the crop software engineers, and they will be doing a lot of beta testing and debugging AI produced software.

This is your idea of an easy win? I’m sure Congress will be eagerly tripping over their collective dicks to jump on that and get it done.
