And? Show me where the Constitution says a Speaker even HAS to be chosen?

Oh, I see. You're gonna play the "where does it SPECIFICALLY say" game. I guess it doesn't, but the way our Federal gov is set up, the Speaker has explicit powers, and the Constitution does stipulate that a Speaker SHALL be chosen.

Split hairs all day long, but this BS hasn't happened in 236yrs. There's a reason for that too. But these morons think they're smarter than the Founders.

Newsflash - they aren't.

Jim Jordan stepping down from Speaker race.

It's about time. The House Republicans made it pretty clear that they wouldn't elect Jordan when they voted to support Scalise. Jordan's heavy-handed moves just solidified the situation.

Thanks for posting that which you weren't even talking about.

My reference was clearly regarding the 2nd Trump impeachment.

Nice try.

If that’s the rule then why is anyone even talking about needing to empower McHenry?

Read it well. There is a difference between being designated Speaker pro tempore and being elected Speaker pro tempore. He gains powers of the Office of the Speaker upon election, which is exactly what's being discussed.

Ok. You're wrong there too. Trump was still POTUS. He had another week in office left.

I think I follow. In order to have any power beyond facilitating votes he needs to be actually elected as Speaker pro temp (not just hold the office because he was next up on the list when the Speakership was vacated). Right?

If so, why don’t they just elect him Speaker pro temp?

I'm not wrong, dingus. It was a bigger Kangaroo trial than the 1st one.

They had zero standing in even TRYING to impeach.

He was acquitted of the charges on February 13, 2021

Seriously, are you a goldfish? Or just have the memory of one?

Correct.

Why? Because no one can agree on anything.

You're funny. You said, and I quote: "...impeached a man who was already out of office"

Here is the fact. Trump was impeached on Jan 13, 2021, one week before his term ended.

But let me guess, you think impeachment happens in the Senate. School has failed you.

Worked with democrats and screwed republicans? I mean unless you are ready to admit that the establishment Republican agenda and the marxist democrat agenda are one and the same, then running the House the way Nancy Pelosi would have it ran is an unmitigated disaster, is it not? On one hand McCarth has the stones to tell Gaetz and the other 7 to piss up a rope on the agreement he made, and on the other he is to much of a fricking puss to tell Pelosi and others to GTFO of the Speaker’s offices?

You’re kidding, right?

No frick face, you can’t remove a man who is already out of office. Doesn’t matter when they started this kangaroo Court, if it wasn’t going to be concluded before his term ended.

Have some more fish flakes.

Well here is the problem now. The Rino’s wanted SS. The America First crowd wasn’t having it so they pushed for JJ. The Rino’s wanted to go tit for tat and said no to JJ. Now the ball is back in the court of the America First guys and I doubt they are going to support anyone the other side puts forward and they may decide to go tit for tat so we have a standoff. These people are idiots!!

To the contrary, that’s the only thing that matters relative to this discussion.

You're out of your league. There is merit to impeaching a POTUS even if his term is nearly over. If convicted by the Senate, he can no longer hold any office. Use your brain.

quote:

Article I, Section 3

Judgment in cases of impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust or profit under the United States: but the party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to indictment, trial, judgment and punishment, according to law.

And you're a useful idiot. The charade was wholly illegal. Just like the Mueller investigation, the 4 FISA warrants issued from the fake Steele (Russian sourced) dossier, the fabricated testimony on Trump's phone call to Ukraine, the phony claims of grabbing the wheel of 'The Beast' from the back seat, neither of which were witnessed, and the latter is physically impossible ...

You buy this "official" narrative BS as if it were handed down from upon high.

We're blaming Gaetz for this? Is this how easily cowed our side is?

"It didn't happen easily, so let's revert back to the usual GOP playbook and just fold!"

Who gives a frick if Congress is at a standstill for a year? Don't ever give in to the GOPe and the country club Republicans.

I'm glad gutless Republicans weren't around during the Revolution. "Sir, our men fired a volley at the Redcoats but they kept coming!" "Well, boys, we gave it a try but let's tell King George we give up."

It’s more like Gaetz stood up and fired a volley at the Redciats and ran to the rear yelling your turn boys.
