There's basically zero chance I'm voting for Landry in the primary.

That being said, what are some of the "things of substance" ANY of the candidates running in this election have done? I'm honestly hard pressed to construe anything from anyone really. I'd love to learn of something substantial of which I may be unaware, though.

It's a weak field. But what should anyone expect?

I really wish Kennedy would have run. Fiscally at least I think he would have done well.

Schroeder stayed principled on budget issues during the Jindal years. He’s walked the walk as much as one can given the positions he’s held.

Can't help thinking that many of you anti-Landry guys would like him much better if he had a clear, non-Cajun speaking voice. He's definitely not a perfect candidate, but to say he's not any better than non-honor-code-Edwards who has bucked the trend of the entire conservative southern states on a number of issues, you're being very dishonest.

Not gonna lie, I would rather hear platitudes I have no faith in from a more well spoken individual.

Hell we just had an election for judge in Baton Rouge where the winner did this. Had to lie about who she was to get elected. And the “conservative republican” district still voted for her.

So Steimel was no better than Wag. Interesting take.

That was 50 years ago! Been a few leaders since the first president of LABI.

And Steimel didn't fight plaintiff attorneys, he fought the labor unions. Even that took years to make a dent.

And Wags actually got some tort reform done even with JBE as governor. Now was it the strongest? No. But he was biding his time for a republican governor. Not much more he, or any LABI president, including Steimel, could have done given the circumstances.

Kathleen Blanco's kid just did the same to run for parish president of Lafayette.

Strawman much? No one is saying JBE is better. But we have plenty of Republicans running.

Accent? Jesus, have you heard Schroder speak? But at least he is a solid conservative with a serious crime fighting background. He was a narcotics detective (and an MP in the military) for goodness sake. Fiscal issues? he was one of the fiscal hawks who fought Jindal.

Nothing to do with accent.

And again, I haven't decided who to vote for.

I’m sure the plaintiff bar is trying to court Landry though since he’s the odds on favorite to win the election.

Thanks for posting this. I had no idea. Plan has changed.

Good man. Hopefully others follow suit. A friend to the trial lawyers is the last thing we need in office. Again (JBE already has that covered).

Why should you only be friendly to people getting sued?Sure, people are abusing the system but its part of the us legal system. They're exploiting it and usually they have legal right to do so, they are just intentionally putting themselves in those positions because they're trashy.

Tort reform would barely make a difference. We just have a lot of trashy people. No need to throw the baby out with the bath water. Lots of really honest law suits out there. In fact, most are, and its important that these woke "you will own nothing and eat bugs" corporations don't get special rights over us.

I think that is true. But this isn't some recent phenomenon. Go read the article.

This is why John Georges is running this story—to try to stop Landry. I’d view it with a high level of skepticism.

I mean it's cool that your a pro-lawsuit, anti-business democrat. It takes all types. And it seems like Landry is a good fit for you.

But I don't think he is a good fit for most republicans in the state.

The article is incredibly biased. Unless I see a transcript of what was said during the lunch meeting, I’m not inclined to believe what Glenn Armentour is saying. Glenn doesn’t want Landry to win.

Except the quoted portions that were posted are from Digger Earles and Glenn Armentour. I did not see any direct quotes quotes from Jeff Landry.

Okay so being for the American judicial system = being pro lawsuit and anti business? lol ok.

Own nothing and be happy, then sir. Make sure you use the proper pronouns, or else you'll lose your credits, ya corporation loving goy.

Glenn Armentor, a prominent Lafayette trial attorney, has long feared that Landry would side with business interests over trial lawyers, and told him so when the two men met for three hours at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse recently. “He gave me his word that he would be a friend to trial lawyers, and they would be a friend to him,” said Armentor, a major Edwards supporter who has donated to Wilson, but not yet to Landry.

So an unsubstantiated claim put forth by a Wilson supporting trial lawyer?

This is who some consider to be trustworthy?

You don’t think the current system is way out of whack? Fair is fair, but the current system is anything but. In what world should plaintiffs attorneys be funding judicial campaigns, wining and dining them? Let’s not forget the scumbags who were staging accidents.
