My mother coached women’s high school basketball during the height of desegregation, no one has a greater respect for the sport and for Coach Mulkey. However, above respect for that game is a deeper respect for those that serve to protect us and unite us under one flag !

It is time that all college boards, including Regent, put a policy in place that student athletes be present for the national anthem or risk their athletic scholarship! This is a matter of respect that all collegiate coaches should instill.

People shed blood so that these athletes could play these sports on a massive stage with all the freedoms and privileges that come with it. It's absolutely disrespectful and disgraceful that teams aren't out there showing their gratitude for these sacrifices. That these players and teams can't sacrifice 1 minute and 43 seconds of their precious time to show that respect is shameful.

It doesn't matter if it is for a protest or not. What's relevant is the disrespect of not standing with everyone else for the flag, the anthem and the people who sacrificed.

It was just a timing mistake by LSU. They did not intentionally miss the anthem. They went back the the locker room after pregame warmup. They stand for the anthem at every game. They just missed this one by accident.

would you rather them kneel and disrespect the anthem, or for them not to be on the court at all?

What's the point in forcing them to be in attendance if they will just pull a Kaepernick?

Is this really an issue?

I must have missed something.

How about we just stop playing the national anthem at sporting events.

I'm starting to believe this was all just an unfortunate overblown mistake.

Mulkey is pretty damn based.

The whole BLM I Can't Breatj protest thing isn't even a thing anymore these days .... is it?

None of this is acceptable

They are certainly within their right to pull a Kaep, but by Landry's suggestion they would forfeit their scholarship. I'm not sure I am on board with forcing Universities to do this, but I do wish Universities would implement these policies of their own volition.

Anthem
This was at the bottom of this KPLC article about the anthem.

“A tearful Reese spoke after what could have been the final game of her LSU career about what she has endured since winning the NCAA title in 2023.

“I’ve been through so much. I’ve seen so much. I’ve been attacked so many times. Death threats,” Reese said. “I’ve been sexualized. I’ve been threatened.”

“All this has happened since I won the National Championship, and like I said the other day, I haven’t had peace since then,” she said.

Her teammates, Flau’jae Johnson and Hailey Van Lith, flanked either side of her and defended her.

“That’s my sister right there,” Johnson said. “Y’all don’t know Angel Reese. The crown she wears is heavy.”

Are you serious?

Really wish Landry wouldn't have touched this.

From what I understand, Mulkey has her pregame routine she has always done. This was just bad timing.

Why did they do the anthem so early anyway?

Why not do it right before tipoff?

I like Gov Jeff, but this is not an issue of disrespect, but rather an issue of timing and/or miscommunication. With all due respect, stand down Governor. You’re kind of making an arse of yourself.

This is exactly what it has become.

Iowa fans and the twitter/internet cast LSU as the villains because LSU beat their dear Katlyn last year. That emotion this year spilled over into LSU missing the anthem by mistake.

He needs to give his buddies another big raise and ignore education/insurance.

Only positive thing so far is his stance on crime.

Self righteousness on full display. She believed her own hype after her 15 minutes last season but doesn't realize nobody cares about her and her sport outside of her parents and LSU fans who will forget about her once she is gone and forget about this team once they are not a champion anymore.
