As long as the sentences are commensurate with the crimes. If a guy kicked over a garbage can, and got five years in prison, then no, I don’t agree with that.

Well, that’s not true. Probably none have served four years, as that would require them being imprisoned within one week of the event. Some have just started serving their time, and have not been in prison even one year.
I think Trump’s team should look at each case. If the “violence” committed is in self-defense, or it’s that a policeman felt threatened or something similarly mild, they should get immediate pardons. If they committed an act of aggressive violence, in the heat of the moment, but are otherwise good citizens with no records, commute their sentences to time served.
If any are obvious instigators then leave them in prison, or if their sentences are too harsh, commute them to a reasonable sentence.

I disagree. There wasn't a single crime committed that day that warrants the 3 to 4 years those guys have already been incarcerated.
Murderers and rapists sit in a cell for less time than that.
It's time to let them all go. Anything less is a betrayal.

The right continues to enjoy tying one hand behind its back and not winning.
The left gets 100 percent what it wants when it is in charge no stop at all. The right can’t get it together to even get 50 percent of what their voters want.

The agents too?
I want the agents given the same treatment, no due process.

Once your sentence has been commuted… you have served it in total….

If they're in jail for J6, they've already served their sentence no matter what they did.

Unless someone can point out an actual real act of violence, the only people that belong in jail are the unqualified and paid off cop who killed ashley, and the feds that were inciting the mob and ushering them into the Capital.
This was all a political show and innocent people have had their lives destroyed over politics. It is as simple as that. Those doing the destroying though don't care at all, as long as their agenda and plan was pushed forward. Also, Adam and Liz should be locked up as well.

Who gets to determine what is violence? I do not trust the FBI to make that determination.

Then you should be glad they are in jail.
Please.

Anyone who went onto the capitol and broke shite or tore government property up should be sentenced appropriately. I don’t think anybody would disagree with that. But people who just walked through there or protested or whatever, they should be completely freed, records expunged m everything,
It’s dragged on way too long by now.

I think that's JD's subtle way of saying, "We're pardoning all of them since, despite what Liz Cheney's drumhead tribunal tried to say, there was no violence by citizens on J6".
Posted on 1/12/25 at 10:23 am to 11Eleven
Depends on the type of violence. Pushing a cop, while being a really bad thing, doesn’t warrant 4 years in jail(so far). The same crime in NYC committed by one of the protected classes would likely not even see any jail time.
Trump and Vance should say “all non-violent people will be pardoned, the rest is a case by case basis”

Good
But what qualifies as "violence" is a question needing an answer
