I'm friendly to your reasoning here, but there will always be reasonable stories that stop progress on issues.

There isn't any reason for dual citizenship to exist. You have Canadian heritage, nobody is taking it from you. But you're American (or not, if you elected).

I don't think this will happen; I do think this would be a massive foundational step to a reset thinking on nationality/immigration/etc.

Because that's what this is all about.

Is it anti-semitic to not want elected officials to wave the flag of a foreign country and celebrate the military of said country as much or more than their own country?

Meh.

The real issues are illegals who come here and then have kids. Those kids become citizens. That, imho, is a way bigger problem than dual citizenship.

Those kids often become dual citizens (depending on the country of their parents), with way more benefits than you could imagine.

They retain added benefits.

If a Mexican and a Colombian both hop the border and have a kid together, that kid can vote in US, Mexican, and Colombian elections, get passports etc....

Fk your marxist line.

You need to channel your jew hate to some other issue. This one is a non starter.

This is America. We can travel, we can marry foreigners, our kids can hold dual citizenship. Our soldiers on deployment in foreign lands can marry, and their kids can hold dual citizenship.

Maybe you should have lived in Stalinist Russia instead of the USA. You would have been happy there. Stalin agreed with you. So did Castro and Mao.

You'd be in good company.

But any US soldier who has served on foreign soil is going to tell you to fk off.

Umm either you meant this for someone else or you're retarded?

My ex-gf was born in Germany. Her father was an American soldier, her mother was a German national. She had to choose at age 18.

Oh hell no, people should have an option to escape. What would Thomas Jefferson think? I can understand elected officials but common man? No way.

German laws changed last year. You can hold dual citizenship now.

Didn't know that, but it's no longer my concern.

Dual citizenship wasn't really allowed until the 1960s. You could come from another country and become a citizen here, but if you went back to the other country and did things like voting and such, you would lose US citizenship.

You were basically made to choose, and you were definitely never recognized as having dual citizenship.

In 1967 they had a supreme court case where a man born in Poland cast a vote in Israel and that is when and why they started allowing dual citizenship.

I agree, but it would drastically decrease the draw for illegal immigration.

No it wouldn't. I would say 97% or more would give up their countries citizenship to become US citizens. I don't think people realize having US citizenship is like winning the lottery of life.

Only thing it would do is end a lot of Middle Eastern and Chinese elites coming here for dual citizenship.

When Iwas a kid we lived in Bitburg. It wasn't unusual at all to see mixed race kids who were German with Anglo surnames. Some of them could barely speak English

There's one reason why this will never happen.

It also happens to be the biggest blind spot in American politics.

This "blindspot" has been responsible for standing by and watching our national spirit and loyalty be undermined. I never thought I'd see the day when endorsing the term "American Nationalism" would be blackwashed and smeared as "racist", anti-dentite, anti-whatever.

There is a severe lopsided power structure in America that readily accepts "dual citizenship", whose "American loyalty" is oddly secondary and subservient to the first.

Nice red herring.

Do you declare dual-citizenship?

Can you be "loyal" to two wives? Two baseball teams? Two nations??
