I know religious threads are frowned upon on TD, but I do wish we had a religion board. There’s a ton of interesting discussion to be had on the topics

Modern Judaism bears almost no resemblance to the Judaism of the Bible, neither belief or practice.

Well, there were at least three distinct forms of "Judaism" in the Bible ... Pre-Temple Yahwism, First Temple Yahwism and Second Temple proto-Judaism (heavily influenced by Zoroastrianism during the Exile).

Modern Rabbinic Judaism evolved after the destruction of the Second Temple and as part of the diaspora.

He wanted it to happen. It HAD to happen, or there could have been no Resurrection.

The Sanhedrin were just playing the role that their own God (and yours) assigned to them.

If not for the Sanhedrin, there would BE NO "Christianity."

I have always been entertained by the huge number of Christians (probably a strong majority) who do not grasp this simple concept.

And theirs.
quote:

Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.”

Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”

And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.”

And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation.”

So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls.

Christians, Jews and Muslims do not worship the same God; this is basic Christian theology. Anyone that says that we worship the same God is profoundly ignorant or pushing an ideological agenda.

Actually, they’re two completely different religions.

Yes, they will be reaped with the sickles of angels and tossed into Jesus’ winepress and smashed like grapes, there blood flowing for hundreds of miles over the earth (Revelation 14:14-20). Then the Jews will be cast into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:11-15).

That’s what’s going to happen to the Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, etc… plus all the Christians with the wrong beliefs. What are the chances out of hundreds of Christian sects that you believe the correct theology? You’ll probably be cast into the lake of fire as well.

I think the Jehovah’s Witnesses might believe the most consistent with the Bible… namely
- One God (though they mistake Jehovah for El Elyon)
- Jesus is a created being, first to be created, subordinate to the father, and he created everything else
- observe the correct Sabbath day
- don’t observe pagan holidays like Christmas or Easter
- don’t consume blood
- subjugate women
- believe the world is about to end in their lifetime
- turn the other cheek (pacifists)
- traditional, anti-LGBTQ
- anti-science (pro-creation)

I have a certain respect for JW because I feel they pretty closely follow what the Bible actually says, even though I reject their beliefs. Maybe the JW will be the ones to avoid Jesus’ winepress and the lake of fire.

We're all going to hell if we lack faith in Jesus and do not practice his works. See the Parable of the Talents.
