When I read that bill I thought it was preachy and poorly written. I was pretty sure I knew who the author was, and checked. Sure enough it is a Mandie Landry bill.

A Soros-backed D.A. in New Orleans is pushing this for Orleans Parish as well.

You'll have to wear a mask in NOLA proper

I mean, it was legal in NOLA not that long ago and we still look at those times as some sort of nostalgic golden age

I see not one positive societal advantage of lifting a ban on prostitution.

If anything, penalties for the pros themselves should be minimized- but the pimps trafficking them should be punished as harshly as heroin dealers.

It’s one thing to have so little self respect or drug addicted to the pt you would give someone a blow job for money, it’s morally reprehensible to make a commission of any kind on someone else doing the dirty work.

Prostitution like the drug trade will always exist because of demand

You can reduce the violence associated with each business if they are no longer black market businesses. This is because of this simple and irrefutable fact - the most common way to resolve business disputes in the black market is with violence

Not only AOC, but every TD poster’s favorite LA politician, Mandy.

Do we have any quotes from her about this, yet?

Legalizing it shifts prostitution from the shadows to a place where it can be monitored and regulated to help reduce the street prostitution and sexual slavery we see now. That's not to say it will disappear completely but it surely won't make sexual slavery more prevalent.

Yeah. I’m sure hookers feel really empowered while they are fricking strangers for money bc they have ni Other life skill.

They all have hearts of gold and are working their way through graduate school.

Do you think it being illegal makes them feel any better about it?

There should be registered “companions“, like from the TV show Firefly.

If you’re going to legalize it, do it right.

Change my mind.

No. But it does make it more difficult for people to exploit them.
