No one is getting a $75k tax break on their homes.

I hope he wants to get rid of it. Every property owner should have some skin in the game. There are many ways to offset any increase in property taxes.

I'd rather be taxed on property than the arse backwards sales tax.

Sorry I didn't explain it properly. It's a break on taxes to the first 75K value of their home.

So if their home is worth 150K, then they pay taxes on only 75K of it's valu

Then it won't pass through a Constitutional Convention,
so what's the problem?

You've built up this red herring, and everyone knows it's not in the cards.

Yeah but those living in condos, apts, and government housing pay NO property taxes. A sales tax is more fair across the board.

A sales tax is crippling to the working poor. It is the worst form of tax.

I disagree with that. It is about the only tax the working poor in Louisiana pay.

If you rent from a private entity you pay, the landlord is factoring his taxes, his insurance costs, his maintenance, etc. all in your rent.

Yes.

JBE has his people amongst the sheriffs spreading such boldfaced claims that Rispone has not opined on all that much to scare people into preserving the status quo and their little fiefdoms.

Best part about Rispone winning this election is that he will owe the Sheriffs absolutely nothing and they will have little to no sway with him considering they endorsed JBE.

Rispone posted this on facebook

quote:

John Bel Edwards is doing what desperate liberal politicians always do: tell lies and spread rumors. It's unfortunate that I even have to address them, but I want to make sure you know the truth.
Let me be very clear, when I'm Governor:
- Funding for public education will be protected.
- Supplemental pay for our first responders will be protected.
- Retirement and pensions for our civil servants will be protected.
- The homestead exemption will be protected.
Remember: Edwards is the only Governor in Louisiana to ever cut the TOPS program. His record is one of a liberal career politician. When I'm Governor, we're going to get Louisiana back on track and make it number one in the south for jobs -- that starts by protecting the promises made to the citizens and students of Louisiana.
Edwards knows the truth, and now you do too. Let me know if you have any questions. I'd be honored to have your vote.
