Yes, it slows the spread of lip-reading.

Put your hand out in front of your face and cough with a mouth full of water and see how much water comes out and touches your hand. Now do the same thing with a facemask on.

It's not 100% but still slows it down significantly. Some microbes will get through the pores of the mask, and some will get hung up on the fibers. Still better than nothing.

The masks work better for stopping someone from spreading it than someone from catching it. But if both parties are wearing a mask the chance of catching it is highly unlikely.

So they’ve done a lot of work to discover this between the time they told us not to wear masks and the time they told us to wear masks.

Assuming no COPD or asthma, etc., a sneeze will travel 150 ft/sec for 10 ft. So I could see a face covering reducing that significantly as well as a cough. So, theoretically it could slow the spread by reducing the amount of droplets floating in the air.

And what is the distance covered by a fart?

Can someone please tell me how Japan has only 800+ deaths, shrinking case numbers in a country of 128 million,
other than a huge percentage of the population wears masks?

Bottom of arse to ground, so 2 1/2 to 3 ft unless you are sitting (assuming an explosive type fart). If sitting and unless you are sitting in temps above 98, the fart will rise because it's warmer than the ambient air. So speed and distance will vary.

I’ve cleared out entire sections of restaurants with a fart so at least 800 square feet in a matter of seconds.

Masks don’t protect you, they protect others from you. If a significant majority of the population (the last 50 years worth of data indicates this is around 80% or so) wears masks at all times in public, you can decrease the environmental burden of a viral respiratory pathogen such that you can significantly effect the rates of spread and number of infections overall.

So the answer is yes, but it requires significant effort from the population of a given area. In practice, the answer is usually no because it’s hard to get anywhere near that number of people to wear masks. Now in East Asian societies, where wearing masks is already somewhat of a social norm and the “greater good” mindset is stronger, achieving this is less of a hurdle.

Ninjas do not get sick. And if you're not a ninja you're in full body cat or pony costumes. Full protection.

Theory....if truly effective-for those who claim so- I give you Exhibit A: Healthcare providers, the consummate breeding ground for secondary infections despite being the most infection controlled industry in America.

Everything you've ever heard about Coronavirus spread is theory.

Face covering doesn't do anything unless it's a commercial respirator or a medically approved mask. Cloth facemasks are a hoax, con, ripoff, whatever you want to call it.

then the person goes home, takes off the mask with their hands, gets the virus on their hands, and eats some Pringles and gets the virus anyway

It is bullshite

no requirement for months, then all of a sudden everyone must wear face masks

I think the assholes coming up with this shite are in some sort of "You think they will buy this one?" contest.

My N-95 mask stops 95% of air borne particles that are 0.3 microns diameter and more than 95% of larger particles. Best data I can find shows respirable aerosols from humans are in the 2 - 10 micron size.

So, in an infectious atmosphere, if I'm wearing an N-95 mask and you're not, you will breath in a virus dose greater than 19 times the virus dose I breath in.

So is farting locked down during the pandemic?

What if I wear a buttplug with a anus mask and chill my pants to 45 degrees F?

Is there a licensure process or a waiting period for farting or can you just let go anytime during a pandemic?

If farts rise in hot air, is it possible to entrap coronavirus particles on the sulfur gas in a fart and have it rise through the atmosphere?

I need a $10 million government grant to study this.
I want to be a hero.

Wrong. Farts rise because the molecular weight of methane is 16 while air is 29. Didn't you take 'Farts 101' in college?
