Very unlikely that Asians could total 50% if DEI were eliminated. Black and Hispanic medical students only total 20% combined, so if their numbers were completely eliminated, you'd think that at least half would go to whites.
Ok, 35%? Still a massive difference.
Nonetheless, giving a less qualified person a slot because of their skin color hurts on some level.

That's a valid point but 50% of Chinese medical school graduates return to China to practice. Having them replace Americans probably hurts more.

EXACTLY what I get when I challenge some liberal’s sweeping assertion of some BS statement. They can’t back it up, and tell me to Google it if I don’t believe them.
Weak shite.
Weak shite.

I have a family member that is high up at NASA. I hear the stories. My ex is also one of the top engineers.
...
And they are telling you that its full of 3.0 GPA white males?
They must be high up in HR to know the GPAs and race of all the interns.
Also JPL is out in Cali, NASA is all over, unless your "ex" is out at JPL I'm unsure how you somehow get gossip over those white 3.0 GPA males.
Going to call bullshite.

Its a little bit up the road, but I'm curious if you have data on those CalTech interns.

Do realize that just throwing out the word DEI whenever you see a brown or a black person makes very little sense?

Liberals and their DEI are why the doubts of merit exist. Blame them.

I want every career/job to be treated like my college football team. The best of the best, regardless of color.

Perhaps.. but it definitely applies to our 'Friendly Federal Assassin'.

These are the people who think saying the N word is worse than shooting the President and every waiter who stands in front of him.
They are so offended by the facts in front of their face, that they transport themselves to a world of delusion. A world where they rather defend the shooters shitty school record, than admit that he never should have been at CalTech or interned at NASA.
They will pretend his hacked up school fair PVC pipe project was on par with Robots playing Hockey.
They have accepted the lie.

I was mistaken. JPL is located on property that Caltech created for students to work on rocketry but it’s no longer owned by Caltech but it is still managed by them.
I don’t have any data on their interns but JPL’s website has criteria for the types of internships and selection criteria. It doesn’t appear to be super selective and lists having a minimum 3.0 GPA as a requirement.

PVC pipe is not a structural material. It is not UV stable. It gets soft in the kinds of temperatures found in a car on a summer day. It's generally a drain pipe, not used for pressure and not rated for hot water.
A brake for a wheelchair needs to be designed with a significant margin of safety. OK, it was just a prototype, but watch the video @ 1:33. I'm not even a mechanical engineer, and I don't have a degree from a prestigious university, and I would be embarrassed to show that to anyone, even as a 'prototype'. I certainly would not have allowed it to be filmed. And a prototype is meant to be used, to test things out. This is more 'proof of concept' than 'prototype'.
It might be OK just to test the fit at home in my workshop, but I wouldn't be showing it off to anyone. Heck, in this day and age I'd expect a CalTech Senior (he graduated that year, 2017) to whip up a 3-d model for that purpose. It really does look like a middle school project.
I looked again, it doesn't even seem to have any form of actuator handle, he just kind of shoves it in place, sitting behind it and reaching under, and the 'brake' part if appears to have fallen off?

Go search DEI in the history of this board. This post may be about this one person. The term on this board has basically been used to describe anybody who has achieved any perceived success academically or professionally that isn't white, most predominantly black people.
No, the talk about DEI is not about “predominately black people”.
Go back and look, DEI talk here (and on other social media outlets) covers ANYONE wrongly promoted over a more deserving candidate based on “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion”.
That includes black people, women, gay men, trannies, furries, and mentally disturbed, among others.
YOU chose to make it about race. That says more about you as a person than it does others having reasonable conversation about it

These fools think calling out a racist program as racist IS racist. Clown logic.
