Y'all might as well accept the fact that Andy is a gonner sooner or later. Latoya is taking it down eventually.

If these fricks take down Andrew Jackson or rename the square then we should just fricking give the city to the British retroactively.

I'm sure they'll find some way to keep it named Jackson Square for continuity's sake.

A major film company was supposed to make a movie about Andrew Jackson and the Battle of New Orleans. I was hoping that would educate a few people and the statue would be saved. However, I've learned that there is no hope for these people.

“EVERYTHING YOU LOVE ABOUT NEW ORLEANS IS BECAUSE OF BLACK PEOPLE”

How is that an ”ok” thing to say?

Social media sez that black people cannot be racist and are allowed to be prejudiced.

What a stupid tweet. Has anyone been to the African Quarter? Partied on Ghana street? Noticed all the Sudanese hut architecture?

So can I say, “EVERYTHING I DON’T LOVE ABOUT NEW ORLEANS IS BECAUSE OF BLACK PEOPLE?”

or

“EVERYTHING I LOVE ABOUT NEW ORLEANS IS BECAUSE OF WHITE PEOPLE?”

Where are the lines drawn?
And I’m not being hypothetical.

Might be a reference to the fact that Slaves built all those 150 year old + buildings in the French Quarter and the Garden District.

All of them?
Every single one?
Zero white people have aided with construction?
They know this ... how?
And are there no buildings in NOLA that aren’t 150 years old?

Maybe the sign should read, “SOME BUILDINGS IN NEW ORLEANS WERE BUILT BY BLACK PEOPLE. SOME WERE BUILT BY WHITE PEOPLE. SOME WERE BUILT BY HISPANIC PEOPLE. AND WE’RE GRATEFUL FOR EACH OF THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS.”

Isn’t Jackson Square a national historic landmark? Doesn’t that give it some protections from changing it or removing the statue?

They’re handing out earplugs at the rally now. They say the folks there are going to need them.
