Thanks for that. As for the past, it's not even theoretical. Before Chavez and socialism took over Venezuela 30 odd years ago, Venezuela WAS an economic powerhouse.

Not the point, you can’t compare SA to ME.

If you don’t think this changes everything for China, Russia and Iran and their ability to operate you are dense. China must have Venezuela for energy. No energy, no security, no economy. All three countries have operated freely to plan against the USA. That is now gone.

It’s good for America which is why you hate it.

How many times has a regime change gone bad on Trumps watch SloFloMaduro? With him in charge this will be different because he refuses to fail

Yes… only because I know it will lead to some kid in the Army death… who wouldn’t benefit in the oil profits anyways…

Removing Saddam and Ghaddafi were also great...in isolation.
I would like to think that South America is more civilized than the Middle East and North Africa, making it a silly comparison.
That is naive.

Both are cultures accustomed to (and mostly comfortable with) rule by a strongman, whether he calls himself a caudillo or a sheik.

Okay fine, let’s just talk Central & South America. Still mostly bad.

We can all be hopeful (and we should be) but this thing is far from over and the track record is woeful.

The fact that there is no discernable difference in how regime changes work in the ME and SA/CA isn't the point? What?

You're trying to create a distinction in theory.

What we have learned over 100+ years is that distinction makes very little, if any, difference in action.

Yes globalism had a big day, sure. Setting the precedent of regional/hemispherical control is something China likely welcome with Taiwan, also.

We don't know if it's good for America yet.

THAT is the issue.

It’s a fair position, but I don’t think Saddam or any other action in the ME is comparable.

What we know about the transition plans to this point is vastly different.

Trump wasn’t president.

We have a long history of drawn out wars in the Middle East and you wrongly predicted that with Iran.

When did this happen.

Or are you just being soft?

On a related note, which branch of the U.S. military did you serve in?

Then just look to our history of meddling in South/Central America

I mean, SFP is enamored with the woman in charge of Venezuela now. According to him, she is far more powerful than Trump.

Regime change attempts in South America

1954 Guatemala
1964 Brazil
1971 Bolivia
1973 Chile
1973 Uruguay
1976 Argentina
1970s Paraguay
1970s-1980s Peru
2002 Venezuela

Comparing outcomes from 50+ years ago to potential today is a silly argument IMO. Especially when we are speaking of a country that was once the wealthiest in South America and is sitting on trillions in crude oil.

The same shite was flung at me on here in 2004-2005 re: Saddam, just so you know. Guess what? I was right then, despite that silliness.

It's basically on the level of a Leftist using x-ism. I'm not phased at retardation and haven't been for 20 years. It just exposes the retarded.

That’s a good point. Even if Maduro has been removed, the rest of his “regime” is still there. What’s next?

Exhibit A of the kind of ignorant drivel that bogs down the discussion.
