I think this is a pretty morally terrible argument. Imagine if in 80 years someone said that the Holocaust was the best thing that ever happened to the Jews because they got Israel as payment. Anyone who lived through the Holocaust or knew someone who lived through the Holocaust would be outraged, but there would be almost no one left who was still alive. It has been good for their distant descendants in some way, but it doesn’t remotely excuse slavery. The modern world could be better if it hadn’t happened.

If you look at history this way, horrible things are often for the benefit of future generations in the long run.

The Black Death brought on the end of feudalism by making the work of peasants worth more.

The mongol conquest opened the East to Europe.

Every immigrant group came to America because of terrible conditions in their homeland.

Sub-Saharan Africans aren’t special in that the toil of their forebears brought their progeny a better life

Gift? I don't think anyone would call it that. You can't deny the paradox though. Not a single one of their descendants would go back to the ancestral homeland.

Yep, yet today it’s used as a crutch to circumvent personal responsibility and attempt to gain tax based support.

As awful, evil and atrocious as slavery is, could it be possible that the enslavement of the ancestors of today’s black American is the greatest gift they have ever received?

Jim Crow might be more important. It impacted people who are still alive and cost them 100 years of opportunity to build up generational wealth.

Slavery was good. Because now days black men can frick as many white women as they can. Also white guys can frick as many black girls as they can. The key to ending raceism is sex period.

I used to live in a town that had a very nice indian casino. The benefits the indians associated with the tribe that runs the casino get are unreal.

What happened to blacks and indians in the 19th century was terrible and nothing excuses it, but they (in the long run) are all better off living in modern America than whatever they would be doing without the white man's influence.

The whole reparations argument is stupid. People have already been paid reparations and will continue to get reparations in the form of opportunity.

There are people from other countries who would gladly enter into slavery today just to get over here.

Honest question: Would you rather be a free black person living in America, descended from slaves brought over from, say, Gambia?

Or would you rather be a free black person living in Gambia?

Slavery was/is a repugnant, moral evil. For the generations who endured it, it was hell. But for the descendants, it was an unexpected windfall. The law of unintended consequences and all that.

We all know the true answer but the mentally ill, victim hood no matter what gang, will argue otherwise.

America is the greatest gift to any human ever placed on earth and you still have the insane trying to destroy it at all cost.

Is white immigration to this country the greatest gift to the white man, asked the Native American.

You have to compare by degrees.
They would have had worse lives living under African Slavery and probably even as Free Africans.

Hard to say considering there is virtually zero written history from blacks prior to the OP's referenced period...

Great Danes are dogs. So are terriers.

Figure it out.

Race is a social construct.
So I hope you meant Blondes are not a race. Brunettes are not a race, Redheads are not a race.

Because if one otherwise applies your idiocy to the premise you laid out in comparisons with terriers or great danes, then you're saying Blacks are a "breed" rather than a race.

Either way, the statement as you posed it is ridiculous.
