Even his monologue about the ayatollah is hilarious and I am not a Stewart fan at all. But Christine Amanpour gives "high" praise to POTUS Trump!!

I said from day 1 of the recent uprising in Iran that this was Berlin Wall, collapse of the Soviet Union level stuff. I know there are many out there who get that reference, but too few younger folk are even aware of that significance. To them, it's just another Middle East Islamic country. Iran is Persian. Not Arabic. People are too distracted or not being informed enough to see what's going on.

The best part of the video is when she says Vance called everyone a bunch of pussies and said we will do what we need to do.

Difference between Iran and the Soviet block...we overthrew Iran's last legitimate government at the behest of Britain.

Not just the media, but the teachers unions and public education. They’ll put pronouns & George Floyd above real news & history.

So?
Ethnicity aside, Iran’s population is overwhelmingly Shia Muslim. The Shah of Iran, a pro-Western monarch, was also a Shia Muslim.
Centuries of religious identity shaped by Islamic teaching aren’t going to be undone by another U.S. sponsored regime change operation in the Middle East. Such deep-rooted cultural forces can’t simply be erased by external intervention.

I think the best we can hope for is an Islamic regime that will leave their neighbors alone, like Japan after WW2.

I say the same thing but seeing both of them eat crow is refreshing.

Persians are very proud people too. I am very happy they are finally getting the help they have needed to remove the yoke of Islamic zealotry from their neck and shoulders.

Just as the summer vacation season heats up, the average cost for a gallon of gasoline has doubled since President Biden’s inauguration. As of June 6, the national average cost for a gallon of gasoline was $4.88, an increase of more than 100% from the week Joe Biden took office, when it was $2.39 per gallon.

You know, I'm something of an Iranian expert myself...
j/k
I'm just saying Persian isn't Arabic, and Shia isn't Sunni. And calling both the Shah and Ayatollah 'Shia' is hilarious. The difference in how they practiced was as varied as night and day.

It wasn’t my intention to compare the Ayatollah and the Shah. My point is that Iranian identity has been deeply intertwined with Islam for centuries.
With that said, Islam won’t magically become a peaceful religion if the pariah Shia regime in Iran is toppled. Saudi Arabia’s promotion of Wahhabism — a militant form of Sunni Islam — through its funding of Madrassas has made it one of the largest state sponsors of terrorism globally.
I certainly don’t mean to downplay Iran’s support of terrorism; yet Iran’s impact is mostly regional while Saudi-backed Wahhabi networks have a global reach, funding extremist groups from South Asia to Africa. This is simply a numbers game: nearly 90% of the world’s 2 billion Muslims are Sunni, and Saudi Arabia funds ideological and charitable networks that influence most of these Sunni-majority regions.
My overriding point here is that picking sides in these ancient sectarian conflicts is a fool’s errand. Persisting with these failed regime change policies in the Middle East, while hoping for different outcomes, is the cliched definition of insanity.
