In our area, prices per gallon of regular unleaded are 30 cents higher than last week, over $3.00 a gallon.

This should not be happening, since this is gas that was bought by companies months ago. The current geopolitical situation is affecting gas FUTURES, the price of future gas deliveries. I fully believe in profits, but I don't believe in price extortions.

This. Hell all gasoline in storage tanks was likely purchased prior to the war but they’ll raise prices anyways

We dont get our oil from Iran anyway!

I dont know which statement shows more ignorance. The lack of understanding around the basic tenets of capitalism or the lack of memory as to why we were pissed at Venezuela for buying oil from terrorist to fund proxy wars. Oil prices are going up. If you dont like it dont buy anything again ever....because it's all made out of petroleum.

I put gas in my truck this morning and it was 50 cents higher than what I had been paying.

You better worry about gas prices that's the only thing keeping "Your Tesla" relatively cheap to charge. Let oil go away and you will see how great your Tesla really is

Because it's charged with coal? I always love driving to Austin past the coal plant that powers their "green" vehicles that has had coal piled ten stories high at times.

Even if you insulate, tint windows, etc., it's common in 4000sq ft houses in Houston to have $350+ electric bills in the summer, even if you use a rate shopping service like EnergyOgre. Who wants a $700 a month electric bill?

The gasoline at the pump came from oil purchased over a month ago. The market has already been correcting itself due a global glut which never happened.

Traders will panic to send spot markets higher just like they did in 2022.

The oil prices were way way way too low.

Most of my investments are in oil, so for me this is great news.

They’re already rising.

Oil companies are going to max out profits.

They’re talking about over $10 a gallon in California. Of course that’s because all the oil companies have shut down their operations there thanks to the horrible Newsom policies

Problem is not oil FROM Iran. It is oil TRHOUGH the Strait of Hormuz which is closed for some reason. I have been under the assumption that hostilities were under control enough to escort tankers through.

What is the real situation here?
