Iran's Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad resigned citing personal reasons, as the Islamic Republic tries to sustain its oil industry under a tightening US blockade.

President Masoud Pezeshkian accepted Paknejad's resignation letter on Sunday after rejecting several earlier requests by the oil official to step down, the state-run Islamic Republic News Agency reported.

Pezeshkian appointed Deputy Oil Minister and National Iranian Oil Company Managing Director, Hamid Bovard, as interim minister, state-run Shana reported.

The new minister inherits an oil industry that's under unprecedented pressure from the US, as Washington seeks to force a favorable end to its seven-month war with Tehran.

A US naval blockade in the Persian Gulf has brought Iran's oil exports - a key source of revenue - to a halt, in turn forcing the industry to cut production. Iran also faces shortages of gasoline and natural gas that have been exacerbated by the war.

Fake news. Iran is winning. I've seen it on more credible sources like CNN and MSNBC sites.

OK now. Let's add some context.

We supported a coup to put the previous leader of the country back in power. Why? Because the radical leader at that time (shades of the future here) nationalized BP's oil holdings and was in talks with Russia and allowing them influence in Iran. This was during the Cold War and the belief at the time was that Iran could go USSR Communist and end up tilting things in the entire Middle East.

Given those circumstances, we decided a leader in Iran friendly to U.S. interests was a good thing.

Fast forward to now and you can clearly see that the Radical Islamic based government is most definitely not our friend. The CIA was right back then whether you like it or not.

They might even send their powerful navy out to take out the U.S. Navy.

No one is crazier than a highly trained American special ops soldier if crazy is needed. After all of these years, no one ever thought about a blockade of Iran. What a plan it was.

Today, oil is flowing at a higher rate than before we destroyed the Iranian religious and IRGC leadership, including its military, 72 hours. But not one drop of that oil goes into or out of Iran.
