Iranian diplomat sources say: Any prospect of negotiations with the US are finished. Talk is of revenge.

What would be very, very interesting is if the Ruskies gave him up, as some are theorizing.
They wouldn’t screw with a client like that.
They do an interesting job of being everyone’s friend in the Middle East. They have good relations with Turkey, Syria, Iran and Saudi Arabia.
The only way they’ve pulled that off is by refusing to take sides, and giving concessions where required.

Just in this thread alone, you have racked up 826 downvotes to 47 upvotes.
I think it's pretty safe to say at this point your arguments aren't very compelling or 826 downvotes prove you are a moron.
TBH, I'm not sure at this point which one is more true.

Stop pretending you know what motivates the Russians. You suck at it.

All of those middle easterners that have been sneaking across the southern and northern borders, and being eagerly welcomed by our leftists, may now demonstrate vividly why they made that trip so far from home. They are potential sabatours on a grand scale. They may assist the leftists in crippling our nation.
That would be a wonderful ancillary benefit of this action. We could send boatloads to Gitmo, and even more to meet Allah in hell. Minnesota may elect an American to Congress.

I think their security interests would also trump economic ones, this time.
Winter is coming...and Europe gets cold. They need Russia's oil. If the price spikes, Europe gets fricked, Russia (currently with a shite economy) makes bank, and their relationship with everyone but Iran actually improves. As for Syria, if Russia told them..."you do you, we are sitting this one out," then a few zealots may head to Iran. However, I would imagine that most of the war weary people in that country would be happy to sit this out as well.

What if the strikes were meant to stop a plan, this morning I was hearing from trusted sources close to the government leadership that they were worried of an Iranian backed plan by the Militias and Sulaimani to seize power and arrest the president and declare a new Iraqi norm. LINK

Bold move, Cotton. Someone should probably remind them that the mom jean wearing power bottom is no longer President.

I'm locked and loaded, soft targets probably need to get their shite together as I wouldn't be surprised by some isolated incidents of retaliation here in the US.

You did the math?
Full honesty, the downvotes just don’t bother me. Why would they?
This is a region and an issue I know something about. And I really don’t care what people think of me, or how they react what I post. I may not be effective in persuading anyone, It’s beyond their ability to accept, but I know I’m right, and there is some limited value in planting the seed of doubt in people’s heads.
It’s my hope for that eventually, we will learn from our mistakes, and will stop engaging in these foolish adventures.
As far as the reaction goes. It’s not complicated. It’s just tribalism. This forum is rallying around Trump, and it’s my country, right or wrong.

I was in Russia last year.
They’re doing surprisingly well. The sanctions have spurred economic development in a number of Russian industries, it’s everything from agriculture to automotive, and it’s improved the job market for normal Russians. That’s tempered the impact of the sanctions.
Moscow is also in good shape financially. They have deep financial reserves.

Sure. They’re loaded. But you would think they would invest some of those stacks of coins on carrier maintenance. Got to cheaper than towing your navy from port to port.
