It’s my hope for that eventually, we will learn from our mistakes, and will stop engaging in these foolish adventures.
All we really needed to learn was to blow up shite, kill people and leave, making it clear that we are more than willing to blow up more shite, and kill more people, should their actions cause need.
Your version of learning from our mistakes, ends Israel and puts Iran in the drivers seat in the Middle East. It abandons our allies, and puts Russia as the proxy owner of much of the worlds oil supply.

Matt Gaetz just said the protesters were writing, “Soleimani is our leader” on our embassy wall. He said, I bet they don’t write any other names on it..

A smart terrorist militia wrote “trump is our leader.”

It's been over 4 hours now. Someone needs to check on Bolton. He may need to see a doctor.

These people aren’t our allies.
They’re dependents who use us for their own purposes, and at some expense to us. The situation would actually stabilize If we left. They’d have to learn to get along with each other, and you’d see less fighting. The Saudis wouldn’t invade Yemen if they didn’t believe we’d be there to bail them out, for example.

They would not invade, however, to state that they would have to learn to get along is comical. Terrorist acts committed along religous/tribal lines would be much more pronounced than now. I hate that we are there, and I agree with your reasoning as to why we were orinally involved. That being said, I am of the opinion that there would be more fighting...not less.

Pitt’s portrayal of McCrystal in that movie was pretty good and spot on.
Movie is called War Machine on Netflix if anyone is interested.

Right, because it’s not like our enemies there are religious zealots who believe that every living soul must capitulate or die, or anything. It’s not like they have displayed an unhinged willingness to murder those who oppose them, and celebrate their own deaths accomplishing this desire. No, completely rational, thoughtful, and tolerant, those folks.

Lopsided balances of power, make conflict more likely.
Our presence creates one.

Our enemies are radical Sunnis, who are largely inspired by Saudi Arabia.
Not Shiites.

Iran would never be able to dominate the region. As Shiites, they’ll never be a accepted. And they don’t have the numbers.
What you’d see is a four way contest between Turkey, Iran, Israel, and Saudi Arabia, where no one side was able to really take control.

Both is actually the correct response. The good news is that many Shia don't hate the west, unfortunately, they also don't have any power. Those that do...I guess we will see.

Maybe, but not at the moment. Unless you are now selling Hezbollah as Sunni.

This is my take as well...hence my prediction of a dramatic rise in terrorist acts if this scenario ever played out.
