At least wait for tomorrow when it spike more.

The Iranians are usually pragmatic and measured in how they achieve their regional aims as well as how they foster alliances.
Because they’ve been allowed to be pragmatic and measured.
The sanctions are real and the jig is up.

Please stop posting for a while. Take 24 hours and recharge. It's going to be a long 5 years.
Put aside your emotions, and look at the responses to my posts.
The responses are emotional, not factual. And they’re not driven by any understanding of the region.
That should give you some pause.

Meh who cares. Kill one, a thousand others pop up in his place. Time to get the frick out of the mid-east and let them kill each other.

It’s sad reading Twitter. So many scared people, what happened to being tough and standing behind your country. These idiots weren’t outraged at all when they stormed our embassy.

Why would we tell the Russians? Giving Russia advance notice likely means they’d likely tip off the Iranians.

Everything they've done this decade was based on pragmatism. They had to devote the resources to the SCW, as the connection to the Med was seen as important to the survival of the republic itself. The attacks this summer were done to show the KSA and the UAE that America was reluctant to protect them, which ended up being true. The attacks in the Gulf were done to show that they were willing to shut down shipping in the Gulf if a larger scale war were to occur. Everything they've done has been done for the purpose of achieving their regional aims. Their foreign policy apparatus is unchanged from the Shah's era, and the origins of Lebanese Shia links to the Ayatollahs begin during the Shah's era as well. Unless you completely dismantle their security state, their regional aims will always be the same.

I’m glad for the air strike and glad the dude who supplied EFPs that killed my friends is dead.
However, Not a lot of Rand Paul supporters out today. This just guarantees further escalation in the region.

Something about the timing of the terrorist intel we gave Putin a week ago make me put my money on the Russians giving Soleimani up.

Trump’s not a neocon, nor does he subscribe to sending pallets of money to Iran. I know this bothers you, but try looking at the situation in this light. You are a jackass
What strategic interest does war with Iran serve?
It’s neocon dogma. But what US security interest does it serve?

I’m not sure how bad it will be though.
IMO, Iran will attempt something on the level of assassinating a Prime Minister or other government official of that level.
I don’t see a hot war happening without provocation on the level of them attacking a US Naval vessel in the Strait of Hormuz.
What would be very, very interesting is if the Ruskies gave him up, as some are theorizing.
The confusion that would evolve out of that would be very interesting.

Simon Tisdall of the Guardian just hit a homerun with this prognostication four days ago.

"If anyone can stop Suleimani, it will be jealous mullahs in Tehran anxious to thwart his oft-denied political ambitions."

How do they determine which of Soleimani sons will start banging his wives now that he’s dead. Do they pull names from a turban?
Posted on 1/2/20 at 8:31 pm to crazy4lsu
All of these attacks you mentioned are part and parcel of why this guy needed killing. Are you Iranian?

As expected Iraqi forces are locking down the Green Zone & setting up road blocks.
