Is 45 years long enough in advance? What happened to they've been at war with us since 1979?
Well, let’s see, in 1979 Iran made possible horrific deaths of quite a few American servicemen. Fast forward to only a few years ago when not so ironically President Trump wasted Iranian terrorist general Soleimani, the “father of the IED,” but only after (and in penalty for) horrifically killing more American servicemen than I personally can quantify, throughout our operations in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Is there possibly some period between 1979 and the Iranian general’s commencement of extensive killing of Americans throughout the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq? Yeah I guess they could have temporarily suspended their program of vicious killing of American soldiers somewhere along that timeline out of the kindness of their hearts, but I sorta doubt it. I won’t be diminishing the sacrifice of those American soldiers in such a way.
Ignore it if you want, but Iran has been hunting Americans as long as we’ve had anyone on ground all throughout the region.

We helped overthrow Iran's government in 1953 and spent the next quarter-century propping up the Shah. That doesn't excuse killing American servicemen, but acknowledging the history doesn't diminish their sacrifice either.

And that's my point. At this stage, practically every act of aggression or retaliation can be justified by pointing to something the other side did first. Everyone has grievances, everyone has a body count, and everyone has a justification for the next round of violence. It's a perpetual feedback loop.
Defend American lives and legitimate trade and security interests? Absolutely. But we need to abandon this obsession with regime change and nation-building when we repeatedly demonstrate how little control we have over the consequences.

They can’t stand the fact that Trump was right to attack Iran.
This was one of the few military operations that I supported when it happened, but it was not prosecuted with the proper goal in mind - regime change with a western friendly government installed. This will not happen, and there will be very few good things that come of this. Putting their nuclear program back to square one, and diminishing their military capabilities will only delay Iran, and they will right back at it within several years.

Intelligent people see the attack on IRAN as necessary, and will prove to be the right decision for the entire world!

Obama imported his fellow Muslims. Hillary promised to import more. Biden just did it. The Bush family hates America.
I hate what we got. Should I run?

agree. The Bush clan should have done their job decades ago and we wouldn't be here. Not to mention the Great Divider and Puddin' Pop
Every president since Reagan has been advised not to start a war with Iran

Link? These types of claims are so farfetched on their face, specifically that someone like you would have any clue about something that would be discussed behind closed doors, it immediately begs a smartass link request. But something so blatant as this is unquestionably fair game.

It's not my fault this board prefers to listen to the Promethean podcast instead of other sources of information. I would listen to podcasts that host Scott Horton to get a modern historical view of America's foreign policy.

It is obvious POTUS Trump did not destroy the Iranian military because he wants to get elected.

Is it really surprising the posters on here who are most vocal about leaving Iran alone have said they’re staying home or not voting for republicans?
Not staying at home, but voting for every Libertarian option I have and Republicans where I don’t have the option.

Israel or specifically Netanyahu has asked every president since Bush to attack Iran.
. Trump was the first to join Israel. Israel paid big money to end the Iran nuclear deal.

I would support the Iran war if the goal was to get rid of the Islamic State and reestablish a western government. But that isn't the goal. The goal is going back to where we were before the war. But with them slightly less nuclear capable.
Meanwhile Kim in Korea is making nukes left and right and is an actual threat to our west coast with their rockets but we trust China to keep them reigned in.
