What makes you think they're going on the offense? I'm not seeing anything reported.
2) Kavanugh and wife to appear on Fox News tonight for an interview

1961 Democrats: "Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty....Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country!"
2018 Democrats: "Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, oppose any friend, support any foe, in order to assure the downfall and failure of Donald Trump....Ask not what you can do for your country, ask what your country can do for you!"

OK. I guess I think of those 2 items as long-overdue response rather than a campaign of going on the offensive. I guess I want an even harder, more decisive approach. Throw everything you've got at the MFers.

If they’re worried, it’s about Collins or Murkowski.
If Doug Jones wants to get re-elected in AL he'll have to do it as a Republican. This is a perfect opportunity for him to renounce the Democrats.

They know they’ve got votes to confirm now
Probably 55ish too

Or they gave the Dims just enough rope and are now tightening it up...

I'm still shocked that Rush and others think that we shouldn't sit back and let the Dems commit electoral suicide by kiboshing the vote until after the midterms.
We're in very little danger of losing the Senate so it's not like he wouldn't be confirmed in November.

I made a thread about this last night. Avenatti throwing out the gang bang deal was the in they needed to go on the offensive.

I do think this New Yorker piece on the Debbie Ramirez allegations is a gift to the Republicans. Any person on the fence about the Ford allegations can look at how brazenly political and weak that New Yorker hatchet job is, and come to realize the extent to which Dems are willing to go, which will then (hopefully) cause them to doubt the Ford allegations. Maybe it will open their eyes and they will see that Ford's allegations have been denied or undercut by every person who has been identified by Ford as being present.

No, Kav didn’t do any internal polling until many years after high school.

The rollout of other charges last night was the last straw.
These charges are so baseless even the NYT refused to report them. However, that didn't stop the New Yorker Magazine, so don't be surprised if Feinstein, et al, demand that this woman "be heard."

For the Republicans, this IS going on the offensive.
They always (except for POTUS) try to appear to take the high road. Try to stay "clean".
So, with the midterms right around the corner, they would not take the risk of going down with Kav or POTUS. Something is telling them its the right time to go all in.
Unless that feedback coming in is very negative if they do not defend Kav.

quote:Because... that is part of the process.
Did the Republicans just get some internal polling? Why the sudden shift to going on offence?
They would not do this unless they knew that this stunt was not playing well with moderates or women.
Maybe the Dems did overplay their hand....
When all of you were screaming about why Grassley and the rest of the Republicans were being so soft, the plan was to bend over backwards for the accuser. That proved the accuser was a flake.
Going after her too soon would look terrible and play right into the Democrats hands. But now that the story is out, her "witnesses" have destroyed her credibility, it's now time to go on offense.

My sauces tell me that Kavanaugh has an airtight alibi for the time in question, and it will be corroborated.
