Did the Republicans just get some internal polling? Why the sudden shift to going on offence?

They would not do this unless they knew that this stunt was not playing well with moderates or women.

Maybe the Dems did overplay their hand....

Maybe they just thought it was the right thing to do to protect a good guy's reputation from being slandered.

Not everything has to be driven by polls and politics.

I saw a poll the other day on Laura Ingrahm that only 25% of women believed Ford and 28% of men. Those are not good numbers.

My guess is that the party got sick of Jeff Flake’s shite and decided to bypass the Judiciary Committee because of him.

They MIGHT have waited on Ford if she was going to show up.

The rollout of other charges last night was the last straw.

Mitch probably finally balled up and cracked the whip on his own R senators, and perhaps has secret footage of Flake in bed with a dead girl or a live boy.

They wouldn't do it if they weren't sure they had the upper hand (besides the truth in this matter, which they always had).

My guess is that they have a solid 50 votes with a guarantee of Pence coming in to break any ties. They probably got a commitment from Murkowski.....it's not like anyone in Alaska is going to give shite one way or another......and probably Flake who's not the complete cuck he is usually portrayed as

Flake being on Judiciary and threatening to vote “present”, deadlocking the committee vote on Kavanaugh, is probably the reason for this.

Selfishly, I'm glad they did that. It stirred the pot.

They don’t need a committee vote to go to the floor. The committee vote is just a formality, it’s not required and can be bypassed. They also don’t need Flake at all, as Pence breaks a tie on the floor.

If they’re worried, it’s about Collins or Murkowski.

McConnell does not HAVE to have the committee vote. He can still demand a full floor vote.

What makes you think they're going on the offense? I'm not seeing anything reported. I would completely applaud a strong offense but, as far as I'm concerned, I'm still waiting. They need to go nuclear in more ways than one.

I hope they, the republicans, have heard the out cry through e-mails from the common man....they better not frick up. I know many of us have been bombarding them. Maybe it has helped. If you have not been a part of the effort, please join in. If you already have, please continue.

The Congressional Leadership Fund internal polling came out yeseterday and it was really good for Republicans in House races that Democrats thought were shoe-ins. Still turnout is key.
