No but they are a very pliable lot.

Both Putin and Trump spend a lot of time and energy trying to define a discussion and sway public opinion.
But Trump is better than Putin at changing narratives.
If he can be more convincing that the US allowing Ukranian fired missiles to hit targets inside Russia is nothing more than putting Ukraine on equal footing with Russia…. then that could change things with how the war plays out.

True, which is why its worthless.

To solve this, Trump just needs to leave. Just walk away and let Big Z handle it with Europe. Ukraine is not part of NATO so we are not obligated to fight for Ukraine.
If Trump just walks away this could end very quickly.

He knows the Russians are going to try and pulverize Ukraine in the days going forward.

Trump is not getting a Nobel Prize for walking away

MIC is the one who decides, not him.

wtf does he even mean?
He’s starting to botch this worse than Epstein.

I think it's probably more hubris than self-sacrifice, but you could make the argument that Trump continually putting himself in the middle of a situation where there really aren't a lot of solutions likely to bring glory to himself is rare for Trump, and thus admirable. But again, I think it's probably just because he's used to always finding the narrow path to at least claimed victory and thinks he'll do so here.
Trump has bought into this mythos he created about himself. One that he himself would have told you years ago is more marketing/manifesting something than it is anything else.

What more can he do to support Ukraine than Biden other than put boots on the ground? And, again, I don't think pumping more money and weapons there is what people voted for.
We only “know” what we read on message boards or in media (to the extent “media”can even be trusted anymore).
I’m sure DJT is irked but “flustered” as in panic-like, scrambling?
Nothing in his history suggests he often completely loses control of what he ultimately wants to achieve.
He puts these “truths” out knowing they will be read here at home and abroad and I suspect his messaging has some intent behind it (rather than just letting off steam while taking a crap).

This board as a whole also didn’t think it was a good idea for Ukraine to attack Russia. And repeatedly stated that the US/Europe allowing Ukraine to strike into Russia would start WW3. The board said that was escalation from the West.

Yes, I’m aware that was the majority opinion of this board.
It is a YUGE benefit to Putin for the American people to believe that.
Because it means he doesn’t have to fight wars on equal footing with his adversaries.

I’ll take that bet. If Trump escalates it will be with long range missiles that can savage Russia’s industries. Russia would retaliate by bombing the hell out of Ukrainian civilians. It would turn into a holocaust. But there will be no US troops aside from the “advisors” we are already using there.

He looks very consistent to me. He is trying to force both sides to accept a solution that each considers unpalatable.

1. Trump's never heard of the Scythians (or Vietnam for that matter). You can absolutely "win" playing defense but it's very situationally dependent.
2. This is one of those vague Trump posts that can mean whatever you want it to.

As it stands now, I don't see that as a possibility.

Air strikes count as “our boys fighting” over there.

I agree that boots on the ground wouldn’t happen.
But Putin has already bombed the hell out of Ukranian civilians. It’s just been sporadic.
He wants to take over Ukraine, so he is not bombing indiscriminately. But he could resort to that if his security was threatened more inside of Russia.

Probably some truth to this. I think Ukraine and Epstein are two places where he's uncomfortable because he's in a box. He usually gives himself 15 different exits of varying quality, all of which he can still claim success.
But that aside, I do give him credit for efforts on Ukraine. He's trying to lead, even if the motives are selfish.
If I had to write the script:
- Trump throws up his hands on Ukraine, tells Europe to deal with it, criticizes Putin harshly.
- Europe and Ukraine bluster for a bit, engage in peace talks without Trump, and Putin offers a worse deal than before.
- Ukraine/Europe begin to freak out a bit, Putin demands they return to Trump-led negotiations in order to put prior offers back in play.
Outcome
- Win for Trump - gets a deal done not markedly dissimilar to where we were last week
- Status quo/mixed bag for Ukraine - gets a better deal than it would get otherwise (feigned or real, idk),
- Win (but at cost) for Putin - looks reasonably strong having punked the European faction and gotten Ukraine to take a deal Z previously rejected
- Huge L for Europe

What gives anyone the idea that Putin wants peace on terms that anyone else would accept?
