I own a small business. I had a health emergency last month. My deductible is $9000. So after a premium of $9000 per yr (for just me) I have to pay another $9000 just to be able to use it. Blue Cross cancelled my policy that was decent and I had to move over to this extortion.

I pay for my secretary’s health insurance - and I hate to think that she would be in the same boat. But she’s in it. Where the hell is she going to cough up $9k if something happened to her?

It’s absurd. Absolutely absurd.

Perhaps so, but that isn’t the point, which was, Will that make it cheaper or more expensive?

BTW, While I disagree with you on this issue, I agree with you on the insults.

Yes, it was!

Calling what he said sophomoric idiocy is simply objectively true. I’m usually far more insulting.

Not at all. It was a massive grift for the private health insurance lobby.

Why do you think it has damaged big health insurance?

Of course it was. That’s how you get industry on board with what you’re pitching as socialism to people. Pay the companies for the socialized service.

It’s not designed to crash the market by starving the insurance company.

And for the most part you were able to.

Oh, I was able to keep my doctor, just not my job at the family business. Our independent BC/BS family policy prior to Obamacare cost us $400/month. The exact same plan after Obamacare was going to cost us $1800/month. One of us had to go get a corporate job just for insurance coverage.

The gov’t wants you working for them or a large organization dependent upon them. Obamacare was one of many hurdles put in front of small businesses.

Interesting exchange between you and 808bass. It is odd that you claim to be the “engineer” and the “mathematics versus emotion “ guy when it looks like your basic argument is coming from an emotional standpoint, based on your comment that you don’t want anyone to suffer.

I believe that the current healthcare approach and industry (and it is a money making industry, it is not about making people healthy, it is about making money), feeds off this emotional desire to help people and stop suffering. So they take your laudable desire to help people, and turn it into a system that takes money from everyone in order to provide more and more expensive treatments to people that are “suffering”, and moral outrage is heaped on anyone that dares question this system.

It doesn’t feed of any emotional appeal. It feeds off of people’s biological instinct for survival. If you want to paint a desire to survive as emotional, you must acknowledge that every single human desire is emotional.

Medicare, Medicaid, and Obamacare ruined health insurance. It was all designed to get us on universal health care and it will eventually work because the masses are too stupid to take care of themselves.

Up until 2006 or so, my company paid 100% of the cost.
I paid maybe $150/month as a contractor 2007-2008
2008-2012 it went from free to $125 to $500 to $750 per month.
It has lingered in that $750-1000 range since then.

There has to be a better way, but I sure as shite don’t want government run healthcare. I’d settle for a sliding scale now. Live a healthy life, pay less. Giant fatass that smokes, pay more.

This is the ploy.

“Why do you hate kids with cleft palates?”

They don’t even believe their own arguments. They’re just using them to bully the question.

When you respond with “Should people get elective surgeries covered by someone else since healthcare is a human right?” They respond with “Of course not.” (Usually)

You can flesh out the discussion from that point. But the long and short of it is that they are just disagreeing with where the line should be drawn as to indigent care. Almost everyone agrees with the concept of indigent care. We simply disagree with where the line is drawn on it. And that completely takes the morality play schtick out of the argument. Not that they stop using it. It just lays bare the idiocy of it.

And it’s even more expensive for others. One would think this would be a winning political issue.

It’s been astonishing watching the Rs go from end Obamacare to saving it.

It was offering a Type 1 diabetic all the free ice cream he can eat.

Hes gonna eat it. As much as he can. But sooner or later it is going to kill him.

These companies saw the writing in the wall and sold their souls, hoping they could make as much $ as possible before the band stopped playing.

Get you a part time job at UPS. The health insurance is incredible and it's free. I know a few people who work there just for the insurance.

Both are true, cubbies. Those who pushed it would have infinitely preferred a single-payer system, and ACA was meant to be the first step in a journey that takes us right there.

EuroTrash qualifies for one of the dumbest posters on here.

OP. I feel the pain.

Small business owner & have posted about this in the past.

I used to pay 100% LABCBS policies for my employees and their entire families with $800 deductible and $30 co-pays and I forget total per person, but it was low.

And after HUSSEIN-CARE, I had to reduce to paying 50% of my employees ALONE, and zero for the families.

For me & my 3-kids and wife, my policy was $2700 month, and not even the quality policy above.

I had a torn bicep surgery. I still had $6,500 out of pocket.

So STFU EuroTrash, you don’t know what you’re talking about!

Nothing but a liberal democrat on here that talks crap and think people on here are as stupid as your fellow liberal idiots.

Go play in traffic!
