I, like most on here I’m sure, don’t care much about the Brittney Griner situation. But I thought this was indicative of the state of things (and fit better on here than the MSB)

Trigger warning: ESPN

For all the posturing that the government, WNBA, and NBA have done about “trying to get her home,” they couldn’t even manage to facilitate a phone call

quote:

WNBA star Brittney Griner tried to call her wife nearly a dozen times through the U.S. Embassy in Russia on the couple's fourth anniversary Saturday, but they never connected since the phone line at the embassy was not staffed, Cherelle Griner said Monday.

quote:

The State Department said Monday that "we deeply regret that Brittney Griner was unable to speak with her wife because of a logistical error.''

quote:

She added: "I find it unacceptable and I have zero trust in our government right now. If I can't trust you to catch a Saturday call outside of business hours, how can I trust you to actually be negotiating on my wife's behalf to come home? Because that's a much bigger ask than to catch a Saturday call.''

quote:

Cherelle Griner said a contact in the U.S. government had apologized to her for the error. She said she has since learned that the one number Brittney Griner had been told to dial typically processes calls from prisoners on Mondays through Fridays but not weekends. "But mind you," Cherelle Griner said in the interview, "this phone call had been scheduled for almost two weeks -- with a weekend date."

The state department personnel are 90% useless. Tax payers are being fleeced by bureaucrats like these.

You expect a government employee to work on the recognized day off for Juneteenth?

Note, I’m a government employee who was off but I still did some work remotely from home while I watched Auburn beat Stanford in the CWS.

"State Dept. personnel are 90% useless" ..yet you'd be surprised how involved they are in running this country. They are like roaches, they are impossible to get rid of & are everywhere. And are liberal as hell.

As someone who only knows the English language as it existed 70 years ago, I could not keep track of who was the 'wife' in that exchange, and since none of the names made any connection with anything I ever took any interest in, I failed to generate enough interest to care any further.

Does this make me a bad person for not giving a shite???

LOL.

Trump gets LiAngelo Ball released after shoplifting in China. The least talented of the Ball brothers.

Biden’s admin can’t even connect a fricking phone call for the supposed top WNBA player.

She probably voted for these morons. Voting has consequences. Vote better next time, Brittney.

It makes you normal, which regardless of race probably makes you a white suprematism.

Hilarious to see the Griners publicly state they have lost faith in the government they voted for in 2020. Odds are they will vote democrat again in 2024 and continue to bitch about the ineptitude. You can't fix stupid.
