Interesting. Never knew that. Thanks.

Yeah, there weren't a lot of them. Pretty much had to be the best of the best, in your class to get selected.

I knew 1 pretty well. He wasn't Native American. He was a Skoal dippin country boy from North Carolina.

He was pretty cool, but a bad arse for sure.

I met him in 81, he had a combat Infantry badge, but was only a buck sergeant. I never did ask the story on that.

I think that's the guy that got outed on the OT for lying about being a SEAL. Tigerdave or something.

No, this is a picture of retired Senior Chief Don Shipley, who is a SEAL. He has a YouTube channel devoted to outing phony SEALs. He tracks them down, calls them up, and outs them on their fakery. He also does a lot of phone interviews with actual SEALs, lot of interesting stuff. He also runs a mini-BUDS type camp staffed by former BUDS instructors mostly for teenagers that are interesting in being SEALs, but their is no age limit, anyone that was a challenge is welcome.

Recon Ranger
Interesting. I'd guess the last Recon Ranger patrol in Vietnam was circa 1970-71. Training takes months. So he must have joined the military very young.

Well, it was, but it may not be anymore, for active duty Marines.

Times change.
As a matter of fact, back in the 70s, if you were in Boot Camp at P.I. That was one of the cadence songs for running "I Wanna Be A Recon Ranger.. live a life of blood and danger..

Same as the Army Airborne Ranger song, but with Recon instead and probably a little bit more gory, because every D.I was making his own version.

Yep IIRC 5-7d 6 person patrols. Chopper dropped. Very very dangerous stuff. If Chief Drumming Bull pulled that duty in Nam, hats off to him. Brave souls filled that role.

The guy that I knew, had a Combat Infantry Badge, Ranger Tab, Scuba Badge and Halo Badge that he wore on his uniform on active duty.
I don't really know if the Ranger Tab was allowed by U.S.M.C regs, but nobody would call him out for it.

He might have been Rambo, Tonto, and GI Joe wrapped in one man.

I bet he was a sgt major, full bird Colonel, and Capt Crunch of the bull hockey Battalion.

Man if someone would have told me about being a clerk, Fort Leisure, VA; and all the females there I would have said screw being in a combat unit.

It takes about 2 years to train for forcerecon.
The last Marine combat units withdrew from Da Nang in June 1971.
Therefore Big Chief Full of Libtardshite had to join the Corpse in early 1969 or late 68 at the latest.
If he was born in 1955, and I didn’t look it up, he was 13 to 14 when he joined the Marines.

This doesn’t pass the smell test.

I need positive proof to believe this arsehole even if he only claimed water is wet!

I identify as a Airborne Ranger Force Recon SEAL Roman Legionnaire with combat patches from every battle in the world since 232 BC.

Not many of us left. Caesar was a great leader. When we took Gaul it was rough for a bit.
