I'm reading that he was born in 55 but is claiming to be a Vietnam vet.
Maybe he was a drummer boy?
Maybe he was in the Civil War too?

That’s when the last active duty personnel left.
There were still some advisers left behind but the last Marine combat units left Vietnam in the Spring and Summer of 1971.
April 14, 1971 - The III MAF headquarters, the 1st Marine Division headquarters, and the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing headquarters departed Vietnam. The 3rd Marine Amphibious Brigade replaced III MAF at Da Nang and totaled 1,322 Marine and 124 Navy officers and 13,359 and 711 Navy enlisted men. It consisted of the 1st Marines, MAG-11 and MAG-16, and the 2nd Combined Action Group Headquarters. Significance: This was to be the last command adjustment before the final departure of Marine units in Vietnam. May 11, 1971 - The Combined Action Group headquarters was deactivated. Significance: This ended the Marine Corps pacification and civic action campaigns in Vietnam. June 27, 1971 - The 3rd MAB was deactivated. Significance: This ended the major Marine participation in the Vietnam war with a few exceptions. Marine advisors continued to be assigned to the Vietnamese Marine Corps and Marines of Subunit 1, 1st Air/Naval gunfire liaison company continued to coordinate ship gunfire and naval air support for U.S. Army and ARVN units in Vietnam.

I worked with a guy that wanted everyone to call him Chief, told everyone he was an Indian.
Found out later he was Syrian.

It's possible (17 in '72, 18 in '73), but I haven't seen him claim "vietnam vet". He's used the term vietnam-era vet. The media has dropped the "era" in order to turn the crank on the outrage machine. That being said, I haven't combed the web for every interview to see if he has used the "vietnam vet" moniker, so it's possible he's also doing it.

So it's open season on the high school kids, but everybody should leave this lying bastard alone?
Yeah, that's logical.

Use to be, some of The Recon guys would go to Army Ranger School, and were called Recon Ranger.
Not saying that this guy did, but that was how it was, back when I was in. Late 70s early 80s.
You mostly only saw them at Camp Lejeune, mostly at Onslow Beach. They had side gigs as Life Guards there.

It's amazing how many people think this is a gotcha on this dude. I haven't seen anything showing him claim to have deployed to Vietnam, and we definitely had reconnaissance Marines going to Ranger school as early as the 60s.
