I heard it is $21/hour at the sort facility in Louisville and some weekends they are paying 3x for some employees.

$7 increase per hour in under 5 years and $3.50 in the past 6 months.

With inflation it’s still probably the same purchase power…

Say what??? Really? It’s not just 18 bucks an hour. The med insurance makes it like 28 to 30 bucks an hour.

I worked at UPS when I was in college. I made 12 something or 13 something early on. But damn.. I didn’t know what an Insurance co pay was till I left there after graduation. You could flip that card out and the insurance clerk would smile.

I still remember what zip codes correspond to certain states because of working there 15 or 20 years ago.

People don't want to work for shitty wages.

Only on this board will people complain about wages being increased.

We can't get construction laborers that only need to handle a shovel all day to work for $15, a year ago we could hire them all day for $13. We started a couple at $15 two weeks ago, they told the other existing workers that were making about the same, so I had to give all of them raises to keep them here and the two new guys quit after two days. I have about 1.5 million on the books to get done in the next 10 weeks and really need to at least triple my work force to accomplish that. Everyone you talk to has the same story, 30+ years in the industry and I've never seen anything this bad.

Well…. How are they eating?

And what’s the point if inflation is eating up a sizable chunk of the increase?

I’ll hang up and listen Pawwwl.

I can see that you're really not that well versed in this topic. But let me reassure that the majority of the increases are not being eaten up by inflation. I'm sure that will put your mind at ease.

I've taken a pay cut over the last few years. Mostly due to the company, but with the economy dropping and inflation, we've been hit hard. Thankfully I grew up in a low income household. I have lived within my means and can still pay my bills. For now...

Paying $18/hr for $10/hr work is only good for those who refuse to up their workrate.

Lower wage employees having their wages increased isn't going to crash the system

Only morons here see this as catastrophe. 18/hr is still crumbs anyway

The problem is that you are paying teenagers $18 an hour. They now won’t work anywhere else for less, so they won’t ever leave UPS and 90% of them are terrible workers.

Well if you weren’t getting shitty wages before and you don’t get a 25-50% wage increase like people below you, you and their wages are shitty instead of just theirs because the cost of everything goes up.

Found the moron.

So if I’m making 8 and you are making 15 and my wages get moved to 15 and you stay at 15, you cool with that?

Is The Economy Being Crashed On Purpose?

….Those in power make it appear they are sending Americans free money, they are rescuing you, from the COVID, from joblessness, from the sinking ship. In fact, the citizenry is being set up for a big fall. And most Americans are none the wiser.

Yep, googled this a couple of months ago and it is literally the only good thing about inflation.
