Not all of them were.

The former LA Democrat Party Chairman was supporting Jan Swift, as were quite a bit of Lafayette Democrat Party activists.

I hope Josh prevails, but getting only 38% in that three way race has to be concerning, as he has a solid, very supportive base of conservatives. It will be interesting to see where the majority of the Swift voters go.

Voted for Jan but now have to decide between Guillory and Blanco.

I hate to do it, but am voting for sleaze ball Josh. Don't trust Blanco at all...

Most of them are, though. And everyone knows Monique is really a democrat, something they'll be reminded of many times between now and the runoff.

I voted for Jan but Monique is not an option. Fake, seasonal republicans need to be shown that you can't just change your stripes right before an election and expect everyone to be dumb enough to fall for it. And that's the essence of it. She thinks people are dumb enough to fall for it.

As soon as more conservative people move to Youngsville it will become a cesspool like other La. cities.

What’s your thoughts on the upcoming runoff? Seems the local media (except KPEL radio) will probably be throwing in anti-Guillory stuff where they can.

People know Monique is a fraud. I don't ever want to be at the mercy of democrats who let activists take over cities and push vax mandates, burn and loot, etc.

Josh said Saturday night that going forward, It'll be conservatism versus liberalism.

Jan talked about her two opponents "being corrupt" regarding campaign contributions. I wonder what "her price" will be to endorse.

Forty-four percent of Boulet’s fundraising has come from outside Lafayette Parish, compared to 11.5% for Guillory and 2.6% for Swift. Boulet’s largest fund sources outside the parish are NEW ORLEANS (6.5%), New Iberia (5.4%) and BATON ROUGE (4.2%)

This is the most concerning statistic I’ve seen about how we can expect to be led by a Boulet administration.

Like most who reflect on Edwards, Boulet remembers him as a lively soul. She recalled the first time Edwards met her husband.

“David is a republican and he was ready to zing him. Governor Edwards walked up and kind of cut him short and asked him what a republican is doing with a fine democrat and caught him completely off-guard,” Boulet said. “It’s just his genuine witty way. He’s always been engaging, full of life and full of joy.”

Here’s another example of Boulet admitting who she is politically in an article about EWE after his passing.

If she endorses Monique, I'll know I got duped.

But I'll also know there aren't any real republicans running for shite down here. Josh is not what I'd call 'pure' but I think his fake republicanism is born out of just wanting to be elected to stuff. Monique is a HARD CORE generational democrat who will do hardcore democrat things if elected. After watching democrat mayors allow thugs to destroy cities during the summer of love, and pushing for va mandates as well, I don't want any of them near any office that holds authority over my life.

So I'll be voting for Josh, even though I think he's a little butthole. Welcome to Louisiana politics.

New Iberia, where her family is from. Baton Rouge, where her mother was Governor. And New Orleans because of the contacts in the post-Katrina era. This makes perfect sense.

As for Blanco-Boulet having been a registered Dem because her mother was a Dem Governor, that doesn't mean anything. If my mother was Governor, I'd register whatever party she was so as not to create a controversy.

Blanco-Boulet is a very experienced manager and would make a really good mayor. Josh has issues, rehab, lawsuits, work in the middle of the night, no bid contracts, and the like. I don't know if he is corrupt, but he certainly has never been able to explain half the crazy stuff he's done.

Either way the next mayor will be a republican. All my liberal friends were backing Swift because of her podcast, which I've never heard.

However, I did see Jan Swift's interview. She started out calm thanking her family and supporters. Then it built up to her calling out her opponents. She was angry when talking about the arts programs being decimated. She then talked about money for campaigns and said that her opponents were corrupt and that she was not.

Jan was definitely feisty in that interview where she called a spade a spade. She said the 2 things that you need to be the Mayor of Lafayette are (1) money $$$ , and (2) be BOUGHT. ... she ended with a "Thank YOU and have a good evening"

IMO, Jan never had a chance since she was running against 2 people who were funded by big political power machines. Guillory is basically a puppet and was backed by all of his local political friends who do favors for one another. Ken Ritter (Mayor of Youngsville) and ousted Council woman Kayla Menard Reaux were right behind Josh fist-pumping and cheering him on "go Josh Go, Go Josh Go"

Blanco's husband David is from NOLA and he was previously appointed by Gov. JB Edwards to a job within the DNR - Ofc. of Mineral Resources. He left that job for a position in the private sector of the O&G industry. Lots of $$$ from outside Laffy is being thrown at Blanco.

So basically, Jan was right about being bought. She is not a fan of Josh and his shady business deals as the Mayor. Blanco stole her thunder and dream job as Jan knows a "leopard never changes it's spots". She may not support either candidate, while encouraging the voters to research each candidate's background and who they're in bed with.

but what area was Jan Swift more to the right than Josh?

It was a simple protest vote, but the votes will go to Guillory. We may not like him but he is better every day of the week, and twice on Sunday, than the democrat Blanco.

This is the weakest shite I’ve ever heard. She’s a Dem through and through. That explanation you gave is laughable.

Exactly, she remained a dem for 15 more years after her mom was no longer governor to not cause controversy…

This is exactly what I was going to post.

I explicitly do not trust Josh Guillory any further than I could throw him. He seems to want to be a career politician, so he just started running for various offices until he found a race he could win. That’s the main reason I didn’t vote for him last go round.

But now, every time I look up in Lafayette, there is a ditch being widened, a detention pond being built, or a road being built/resurfaced.

Much to my surprise, he doesn’t seem to have focused on larger issues that don’t matter to the mayor of a smallish city, and instead decided to focus on making the trains run on time.

So I’m having a bite out of the same sandwich.
