congrats and all, but the next step is to stop caring too much about being black.
it's like i tell people. i don't care if you're black, and i also don't care if you're black. either way.

With the exception of the closed primary voting rules in LA you don't need to be (I'm not), I hate most of the repukes too. Welcome aboard brother.

It could be. If you ask any black man thats worth a damn if he wants to raise kids that aren't his, the resounding answer is "HELL NO". And thats 75% of black women. So some of us have no choice but to look outside of our race to have our own legacy.
That's not just black men, that's all men. It's how we're programmed.
The whole sexual liberation was damning to society. Women don't keep their legs closed anymore because the left tells them not to worry, its just sex, 'single moms are great' and such.
The reality is that once a woman has a child, she damns herself to poverty 9 times out of 10 for the rest of her life, and her child(ren) will also be in poverty.

I'm a 38 year old black man who has been voting democrat straight down the line since I was 18. Not anymore. The Democratic party is not for straight black men. It's not for straight men of any race. The Democratic party is for women and the LGBTLMNOP community. Will I be a Republican...probably not. But as a 38 year old professional black man, I have more in common with a white conservative man than I do with a white liberal man.
I used to debate conservatives all the time and they would always shut me up with CDC stats. When the stats say that over 70% of black kids are born to single mothers, you cant argue it. So I started to look at the stats more. And the stats show that almost 50% of black men are single with no kids. Another 27% are married. So there is about 25% - 30% (cross section of married men) of black men that are responsible for the 70% of black babies born out of wedlock. Before I read this, I thought that every black man had about 3 or 4 illegitimate kids but thats not the case. All I ever heard from black women is that black men "ain't shite".
Big government and feminism has destroyed the black family. The government came to black women and said that if you kick the black man out of the house, we will give you all of the benefits you need. This was in the 70s. They have been happily married every since. The Democratic party wont allow this marriage to end. They need votes from black women. In the 30s and 40s, black americans had a higher marriage rate than white americans. It wasnt until the late 60s and early 70s when welfare was introduced where a requirement was no man needed to be in the home.
There is a clear majority of black men that are doing the right thing. I thought I was the only single black man with no kids in my area, but we are half of the black male population. But there are these black women that have babies with a small pool of black men in exchange for that household and benefits. This needs to stop. Its a cycle that goes on for generations. I cant find a wife because damn near all of them have kids.
Black men have their problems too but they are mostly the result of being raised by a single mother. The Democratic party doesn't want to upset their most loyal base by telling these single mothers that they have to fend for themselves. This is exactly what they need. I no longer want to be a part of it

Honestly, on top of all of this: black men have more jobs as opportunities when Republicans run the ship... and I'm far from a Republican - but it does surprise me how high of a majority of African Americans vote Democrat: especially considering how much the Democrats pander to everyone but them these days

Well said, sir. I'm a few years your junior (I'll turn 30 next month), but I've always maintained that the destruction of the black nuclear family has done more damage to our demographic than anything anyone of another race has done. We've allowed ourselves to be exploited by the left side of the aisle--a side that takes our vote for granted to such a degree that now we see them hardly paying even lip service while they turn to address the sexier demographics of the moment, be they homosexuals (nothing against them) or illegal immigrants.
What you said about being raised by a single mother as a black man is profound. I owe basically all of my developmental success to the fact that I was raised in a stable, two parent home. I took that for granted growing up. As I matured, I realized how truly rare that is. It's such a gamechanger it's not even funny. Makes me want to be a better parent/husband, because I see the damage that's been done to my peers growing up in less fortunate environments. It scares the shite out of me how much differently my upbringing could have been had I been among the statistical majority.
I identify as a conservative with a strong libertarian streak. My presidential votes have all gone Republican, due mostly to the fact that for the issues I care about, they tend to be the lesser of two evils.
It's not about party affiliation, though. It's about opening your eyes and seeing who in Washington is actually representing what matters to you, not just saying sweet sugary words that appeal to immutable traits. If more black men (and women) start to approach politics like that, perhaps our votes will once again mean something.
Because at the moment, the black vote doesn't mean a damn thing. We've ceded our political clout as a demographic, and that's very sad. Posts like yours are heartening.
Thanks

I've bounced back and forth between Republican and Liberatarian. If there was such a thing as a Common Sense Party I would join immediately. The most important thing to remember is that the Democrats want government to make as many decisions as possible. The more decisions government gets to make the less decisions you get to make.

OP,
Thank you for being a logical free thinker. Biden made the comment that the conservatives want to see black people "back in chains". This infuriated me to the point that I could barely speak of it. Literally, it pissed me off so bad that I was literally shaking every time I thought about it for the first two weeks.
We want All people to be free. Free from the bonds that Biden's own liberal party unquestionably wants you to remain chained to. I have a close friend and coworker (black male, 51yo, staunch liberal his whole life) who is one of my closest friends. He is chained to the Democratic party. I try to red pill him often but he is convinced that the conservatives are the party of racism. And he can't explain why he's liberal, other than he always has been. And when I ask him what the liberals have done for him, he has nothing concrete to answer. And I remind him that I represent many conservative values, and that I'm definitely not a racist. He says "yeah, but you're different".
He hasn't, and may never, realized that 99% of us are different. We aren't what the liberals say we are. If you choose to go independent, great. I am independent. I'm a minarchist. I love the constitution, freedom, liberty and I won't be chained to either party although I do share core values with conservatives. And I'm Native American. It's ok to be a minority and reject the principles of the Democratic party. But just be warned, as an independent or conservative minority, you are about to come under attack from liberals like you never thought imaginable. They are most definitely the party of equality and tolerance [as long as you do exactly what they say, and think, act and vote exactly how they tell you to]
You are thinking for yourself. That's all we want for anyone and everyone- to not be swayed by the MSM or any other outside influence. We are not monsters. We are not bigots. You're a 38 year old professional black MAN, and I'm a blue collar Native American and my 40th birthday is tomorrow. And judging by your comments, you and I have much more in common than we would with any leftist. Whether you go independent or tea party or libertarian or even go back to the democrats- you have had an epiphany and joined the great awakening. I encourage you to continue to dig for the truth for yourself. Welcome aboard my man. And God bless.
