I knew guys like that at Alabama.
You could never tell whether they were closeted gays or just had no self confidence or core identity so they’d pretend to be super soft republicans and basically did just enough to stay off the radar socially.
They’d graduate and it would be 50:50 whether they’d run back to the protection of whatever country club their dad belonged to or hop a flight to LA or NYC and latch on to whatever the cultural norms were there.
I always felt bad for them because you could just tell they were completely uncomfortable with their circumstances and had no idea who they were.
