Said on here many times I'm willing to pay more if legal workers are used. Also have advocated felony charges for businesses hiring illegals. No work - they go home. Easy-peazy!

That’s likely true in some cases. Not in others.

But, there’s also culpability for those home owners who will stop having their lawns mowed when the prices skyrocket from $35/week to $150-200/wk……as one example.

Burritos and queso are now $15+ per person. Those Rita specials just disappeared as well.

Really? You think your wages will go up proportionately? They won't. So many selfless 'muricans online.

My position is not so unreasonable or strange. Listen to what I’m saying here. I will pay a premium for high quality goods over a discounted rate for cheaply made goods. And yes, I would prefer to support US citizens over foreign ones in the marketplace. I understand that will cost me more money. I do not care.

Americans will do those jobs if all public assistance is cut off from those who are able to work. Hunger is a great motivator

And those prices still have gone up with the cheap labor.

I hear this is/was the case on Long Island but believe laws may have changed to discourage this.

That’s a misrepresentation. Immigrants, illegal and otherwise, make good money working as welders, fitters and other construction jobs. We CANNOT find enough Americans to do these jobs. Now, surely we could if we hiked the pay enough, but we’d have welders making $150,000 per year for 40 hour work weeks. And I don’t want to hear your disagreements unless you have been in the trenches trying to hire.

This is what this board doesn't understand. They have no clue how bad it's going to get if we continue down this path. The construction industry is screwed right now and it continues to get worse every month.

This right here plus add in the BS entitlement line from Ds who suggest that entry level jobs should be make six figures.

Someone has to hire them. They’ve never really gone after the employers for their choices to use these workers.

If they did - then we’d find out truly how much of it is due to them not being able to find Americans.

Yea, the market would correct itself if they got rid of the illegals and stopped government assistance. And if rates went up, homeowners would spend a little more time learning how to fix simple things on their own without relying on a handy man. There is a ripple effect to everything, government interference ruins the free market.

Take away government benefits and Americans will do those jobs.

We have removed starvation as a motivation. George Soros himself would pick vegetables if the choice was starvation.

Our company employs about 300 construction workers at any given time. It’s mainly working in the oilfields of the lower 48. We have not seen a big hit due to ICE enforcement yet, because ICE just hasn’t been more of a factor than it’s been in the past years. But if they do start checking job sites out in West Texas, New Mexico and the other shale fields things will go to shite in a hurry.

If true, people would do it now, but they dont because they have less expensive alterntives.
