I would have never stopped the bombing and never had a cease fire until they cried uncle or had nothing left. The people can't rise up without weapons..

This is what I want to read with my morning coffee. The 'I told you so' crowd got old by the 3 day.

I would not have gone in unless I was prepared to win. I would have had a ground option ready, and I would have pulled the trigger on it when iran refused a better negotiated solution.

I don’t think we would have need an enormous army to occupy Iran like we did in Iraq. That opinion is based on technology advances since then. We could have gone in with about six or eight expeditionary forces in ket areas of Iran - probably half along the coast of the SOH. Those forces would be adjacent to population centers, but not overlapping them much. This would put them in contact with the people but not in the danger of urban warfare. This kind of positioning would allow them to arm the people of Iran and let them hunt the IRGC.

The ones along the coast would be more active in hunting the drone and small boat sites along the coast. All of these would be supported by heavy drone and other air support as pioneered in Ukraine.

I think an approach like this would force the IRGC to stay in hiding while the people took over society, including munitions factories and the regular Iranian army.

As nominal control was established by non-regime Iranians, our forces would retreat to the countryside where they would be even more out of harm’s way. Stay until the IRGC is completely repressed.
